“Room was clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. The corridors and lobby had a terrible smell, like old cigarette smoke. We had to use a candle in our room to clear the odor. The pool was nice, but the fitness center was closed during our stay.”

“Front desk staff very welcoming and efficient. Some renovations done but not always completed. Didn’t care for long term residents that congregate in hallway for chats. Housekeeping overlooked some cleaning duties. Washcloths were stained. Exhaust fan in bathroom was filthy.”

“Hallways smelled strongly of smoke. Bathroom was small. Breakfast had little selection, and most selections were empty at 7:00am. This would all have been fine for a hotel at half the cost, but not what we paid.”

“Clean room. Awesome staff. 24/7 Keurig in the lobby. Walkable to shops and restaurants (strongly recommend Theresa’s cafe for lobster roll). We stayed Sat-Tue, and it’s important to know that many local/regional restaurants are not open Mon/Tue (not sure about Sunday, we had a picnic). The only thing I wish were better was the breakfast - limited choices, mostly carbs, of course and only boiled eggs for GF. They have limited space to serve, so I understand, but it would have been nice to have...

“It was -12 on Portage Lake and we cranked the heat pump up to 75. The Birds Nest cabin needs another heat source. Upstairs was cold when we got back at 10:30 pm after leaving the heat on all day in the cabin.The two full size beds that are pictured is one that’s on the bottom of a metal bunk bed frame and the other is upstairs where the roof is pitched so one side has no head room to accommodate two grown adults.New owners shut the water off for the winter. Didn’t know that until the day we left...

“Great location. It was newly renovated in 2025 I believe. Great restaurant and bar on site. I wish the bathroom was a little bigger but definitely not a deal breaker. I’d stay there again”
