Great central location, not on the river. While there are significant sites along the riverfront, it is at a significantly lower elevation from the rest of the town (hence the funicular) and not convenient to local restaurants and other sites.
Don't be misled by the photos, which make the rooms look drab. They are modern, with dramatic lighting that enlivens the space but provides good light. The bathroom was huge. (I'm a New Yorker, so maybe my standards are different.)
Staff was lovely and helpful. The breakfast area (same space as summertime rooftop bar) was under renovation for a few days of my stay. Staff brought breakfast to my room.
