"Our stay at the Pestana Carlton Madeira Ocean Resort Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and professionalism by the staff, who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The hotel’s location is perfect—just a short walk from Funchal’s charming center, yet peaceful and right on the ocean. The views from the rooms and terraces are breathtaking, especially at sunset. We particularly loved the choice of swimming pools: the large sea-water pool with direct access to the ocean was a highlight, while the indoor heated pool provided the perfect retreat in the evenings. Breakfast was outstanding with a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries, and local specialties. Every meal we had at the hotel was beautifully presented and delicious, with attentive service to match. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, offering all the modern amenities while still maintaining a relaxed, island atmosphere. The beds were especially comfortable, ensuring we woke up refreshed each day. What truly sets this hotel apart is the staff’s dedication to excellence—they consistently went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect. "Good value hotel with a reliable bus service to Funchal only 5min walk away which I used on multiple occasions. It’s very good value compared to taxis. The staff were very helpful at all times of the day and the reception always had a friendly face there to help with many questions. I would stay here again."

"Hotel is situated on a shore of the ocean, so through bedroom windows and balcony we saw only ocean, waves and had magnificent view. Food was excellent in the restaurant, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was spotles. Highly recommended to everyone!!!!"

"Great location in Funchal! Perfect walking distance to everything — especially convenient after a long day of hiking and sightseeing when you want to just wander for dinner. The rooftop pool was stunning, with plenty of loungers to choose from. Such a relaxing spot to unwind. They also host nightly performers, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The entertainment felt top-notch (definitely not cheesy), and I loved it! The daily breakfast buffet on the terrace was a wonderful touch — a great way to start the day. ✨ Highly recommend!"
