Hôtel au charme légèrement suranné, beau, avec des jolies installations (véranda donnant sur le jardin, accès plage) et chambres. Le Spa est superbe mais bien se renseigner en avance en hors saison (dans notre cas, massages pas disponibles et hammam en réparation). Le petit déjeuner est bon mais la carte du restaurant le soir manquait un peu de saveurs. Personnel très sympathique.

Hotel and expensive spa
The hotel was fine, and they provided a takeaway breakfast as we had to leave to catch a plane before breakfast service opened. However i was disappointed to have to pay to use the indoor pool, which I decided not to do.

Bon hôtel étape
Établissement pas très moderne mais personnel tres agréable et très serviable. Restaurant simple mais de qualite. Cet hôtel est pour nous une étape et nous n'avons donc pas la même approche que des personnes restes en séjour plus long.

Glimrende valg for avslappende ferie.
Vakkert beliggende hotel rett ved stranden. For øvrig en fantastisk bra strand. God plan på hotellet og vakkert tilrettelagt med palmer, planter, svømmebaseng.

Personnel très efficace et convivial. Dommage que le directeur ne sache même pas dire bonjour à ses clients et soit hautain et semble très dédaigneux à l’égard de son personnel. Restaurant très quelconque et répétitif. Petit déjeuner très bon.

Quiet hotel with a perfectly clean design
I had an amazing time in Porto Santo and a great at this hotel. Nice people, good service, attentiveness - the rooms need some updating, as they let a bit too much noise in, but they're still very comfortable and clean.

Prima hotel, beetje gedateerd. Keurig personeel met een extreem service gerichte instelling. Eigen bar bij het strand, wat erg relaxed is. Kleine maar erg ontspannen spa op het terrein van het hotel.

Schöne Lage, es ist das älteste Hotel auf der Insel, phänomenaler Strand, und tolle Strandbar. Zimmer wird täglich gereinigt und das gut. Das sonstige Hotelteam scheint jedoch nicht sonderlich interessiert an einem zu sein, keine Infos oder Erklärungen bei Anreise, einfach Schlüssel in die Hand und gesagt wo (in unserem Fall) die Familienvilla ist. Bei Abreise kein nachfragen wie es war, nur Rechnung in die Hand und good bye. Auch sonstwird einem kaum angesehen (und wir waren 10 Tage da!). Achtung: Das Essen im Restaurant ist gar nicht zu empfelhen, viel zu teuer für das gebotene und definitiv keine 4 Sterne wert. Da gibt es auf der Insel tollere Restaurants zum günstigeren Preis. Mich hat das desinteressierte Personal eigentlich nicht sonderlich gestört, bin es mir aber anderst gewohnt und für mich ist es dann auch eher ein 3 Sterne Hotel.

albergo datato, e' del 1962, ma eccellente. personale cordiale, piscina,accesso diretto al mare, bar sulla spiaggia, asciugamani per la spaiggia gratuiti, colazione a buffett buonissima . comfort della camera molto buono, e non mancava nulla: tv, minibar, cassaforte, letto comodo, cuscini, aria condizionata, asciugacapelli , terrazzo etc etc. da ritornarci ad occhi chiusi

Hotel am Strand - kein Meerblick
Wir waren sehr enttäuscht vom Hotel. Die Lage ist wirklich Top und die Strandbar ist auch wirklich 1a. Der Rest war einfach nix. Frühstücksbuffet jeden Tag eine ganze Woche das Gleiche und sehr einfach!Einmal haben wir auch abends warm gegessen und es bereut!!! Spabereich ist ein Witz - sieht zwar gut aus,aber völlig unbrauchbar.keine Sauna-Pool eiskalt und heftig teuer. So teuer, dass kein Mensch diesen Bereich nutzt! Unser Zimmer war frisch gestrichen und es stank übel nach Lackfarbe - das Bett war hart wie ein Stein, an Meerblick nicht zu denken!! Leider war das Personal so unmotiviert, dass die wunderschöne Außenanlage nicht richtig gepflegt wurde. Die Liegenauflagen wurden abends nie eingesammelt, so dass sie morgens dreckig und nass waren und die Schiene wurden ebenfalls stehengelassen, so dass sie bei Sturm wild durch die Gegend flogen. Schade!! Ein Hotel mit toller Lage und Charme und es wird nichts daraus gemacht.

Great resort
We stayed 3 nights at the Porto Santo in May. It is an older hotel, but the common areas are lovely, well maintained and clean. It seems that most of the 1st floor rooms have no view but there was a balcony with chairs viewing the garden. The bed was comfortable, the wifi was great, and the towels were beautifully soft. The staff was lovely, very friendly and accomodating. The beach is easily accessible and there is a lovely pool. The small town is about a 1.5 kil walk. The town had many cafes. While we visited, the town was quiet and it was easy to find a table for a meal. The hotel includes breakfast which was plentiful although most of the hot food was not for me. There was plenty of fruit and nice baked goods. We enjoyed our stay.

Sehr schönes Hotel direkt am Strand. Sehr gutes freundliches Personal. Frühstück hervorragend. Leider fiel das Abendessen etwas ab und die Spa Angebote sind sehr teuer.

Very nice old hotel
The Hotel location/site is without any doubts great. Direct connection to the beach through the beautiful garden of the Hotel, a pitoresque beach bar, I don't know how that can be any better. The Hotel itself is old but very clean, very nice infinity pool. Some details can/must be improved (the machines in the gym don't work and are not clean), but this is negligible. Breakfast is very satisfying as well. Staff is allways very friendly. We would go there again ....

Best location on the island!
The facilities are great - the pool is lovely, the breakfast is great, the pool bar is good and the hotel's location is the best on the island. But the rooms are very very dated and the balconies have no view. The rooms desperately need updating. Had a brilliant stay but was not sorry to leave the dated room and bathroom.

Great location, vintage hotel
Great location on the beach. Lovely swimming pool and beach bar. A must for fans of 60s architecture as the original design and furniture are intact. However I personally think the soft furnishings in the room should be updated as I felt like I was staying in a musty museum. I would not recommend dining at the restaurant based on our experience. However, breakfast is wonderful and there's a great restaurant down the road - Casa d'Avo.

Excellent location for the beach
We booked this hotel from the taxiway after our plane was diverted from Funchal to Porto Santo as it was the first available through Expedia. It turned out to be an excellent 1 night stop over. The hotel is just 50 metres from 8km sandy beach and would make an excellent place for a planned holiday in the summer. The staff were very helpful in helping with our onward travel to Funchal the next day organising the ferry and taxi.

Charmantes Hotel am Strand
Was wir nicht mögen: Bettenburgen! Was wir mögen: Stil und Charme der 60er! Beides haben wir in diesem Hotel vorgefunden: Ein eher kleineres Hotel, das sich schön in die Umgebung einfügt mit einem herrlich "historischen" Ambiente, das einen an die Zeit erinnert, als Reisen in solche Regionen wenigen wohlhabenden Herrschaften vorbehalten war. Alles war perfekt sauber! Bad und Zimmer waren 1A; die Betten boten Liegekomfort nach aktuellem Standard und der Röhren-TV lieferte Bilder aus Deutschland. Wir haben die Zeit hier sehr genossen!!!

Das Hotel hat eine perfekte Strandlage. Der feine Sandstrand ist über wenige Meter durch den Hoteleigenen Garten mit Palmen, Pool, Minigolf und Minibar zu erreichen. Das Hotelteam kommt jedem Wunsch nach, auch wenn leichte Sprachbarrieren bestanden wurde alles perfekt umgesetzt, wie z.B. Restaurant buchen und Taxi Service. Check In und Check Out waren sehr unkompliziert, wir durften nach dem Check Out auch Pool mit Handtüchern des Hotel nutzen. Das Frühstück war optimal, es war für jeden etwas vorhanden, man hatte keine lange Wartezeiten und es wurde reichlich Angeboten.
