Surprised by how good this accommodation find was. The restaurant onsite is excellent. Room was comfortable - nothing fancy but had all the essentials and a bit of personality. Housekeeping staff were helpful and friendly. Considering the location, view across the lake, and size of the room, I thought the price I paid was very reasonable. The free parking was great. Would stay again.

This was a wonderful experience - while the room and bathroom are pretty basic - it was rather a step back into the past - we loved it. Comfy bed - great shower - delicious tea and beautiful view. But the pièce de résistance was the restaurant - simply outstanding. A most unexpected gem in what looks simply funky - it is way more than it seems:)

Amazing location, away from the crowds and a short distance from both the airport and town. Staff was incredibly kind, friendly and helpful, especially the ladies at the reception one from Chile, the other from Uruguay (arohamai forgot your names!!) and the guy in the evening. Will definitely stay again at Sherwood in the future.

Loved that it is environmentally focused. Showers were great. Much better than they looked as I am not really a fan of showers over a bath. Restaurant was AMAZING! I would come here again regardless of whether I was staying or not. Wrong grind of coffee for the plunger, but that is really the only negative I can think of :)

I was definitely fooled by the reviews and photos that were posted on Expedia. Now I am not an objective authority on hotels or type of hotels that Sherwood is. My experiences I travelled with my family of 3, wife and an 11 year old, Queenstown is one of my favourite destinations. The good Restaurant and wait staff, wonderful, polite, professional, truly hospitable. The food was also good. Has a great courtyard with fireplaces scattered across including a few in the beer garden so great for families with toddlers and young kids. Now the rest: It appears that the glory days of the hotel are truly behind it, sold as a four star, is poorly managed and there isn’t any effort on the hotel’s part to make up for the shortcomings that we experienced. Rooms: Very old almost antique some vague art deco vibe which seems more of an effort to hide the reality, poorly lit and cold with only 2 quilts for 3 people Bathroom Need a small time diploma to operate the hot water mixer in the bathroom Room cleaning and services None was provided, we stayed for 3 nights My wife had periods and had some “accident” which leaked on to the sheet, my wife requested the room service to replace the bedsheet which was promised and delivered by dumping additional bed sheet and quilt which wasn’t provided the first night. Bed wasn’t made for all 3 days and we managed. Bathroom wasn’t cleaned for all this while either. Won’t come back to it, won’t recommend,suggest to avoid, backpackers standards!!
