This is the only site in the world where all the rulers of one clan are buried. It is said to be the oldest attraction in Hyderabad.

Take a daytrip to the magnificent tombs of the seven Qutub Shah sultans who ruled over the Golconda area for close to 170 years. There is nowhere else in the world where all the rulers of a clan are buried in one place. The structures are a mix of architectural styles put together with elegant results. Come to learn about the history of the ancient Qutub Shahis and soak up the majestic atmosphere. Crowds are smaller here than at the nearby Golconda Fort.

Pay for a guided tour from the entrance gate to learn about the Qutub Shah dynasty and their historic tombs. Take photos of the buildings and note the architecture, which is a blend of Hindu, Persian and Pathan styles. Admire the arches and the huge dome roof of the main building, constructed from granite.

Visit the solemn tombs to see the sarcophagi, symbolic coffins covering the burial vaults. Each tomb’s display is unique in design and size. Marvel at the remarkable mausoleum of Hyderabad’s founder, Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah. The structure is 140 feet (42.5 meters) high and topped with a large dome.

Browse the small museum on site that has artifacts from many centuries ago, from decorative vases to jewels. Visit the mosque with its elaborate towers and arches.

Take a walk around the gardens and bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawns. The tombs are open daily from morning until late afternoon. There are two admission fees, one that applies to tourists and one for Indian nationals.

The Qutub Shahi Tombs are situated in the Ibrahim Bagh region, in the west of Hyderabad. The Golconda Fort is nearby. Buses from Hyderabad go to the Banjari Darwaza or the Gulshan Colony stops, which are located just outside the complex.
