This is a cheap place. It is clean. The staff all seemed to be part of the same family, and were very friendly and helpful. They didn't speak English well (and I think anyone who expects perfect English should probably book somewhere a lot more expensive!), but we were able to communicate well enough. We got very helpful suggestions on what garage to use when we needed repairs for our car.
We stayed 3 nights in a room with a double bed on the ground floor, with a loft area with three more beds. The biggest downside was that the wifi basically didn't reach the room, so we needed to go to the restaurant area to use it. There seem to be a number of people living there long term. It wasn't sophisticated, and felt a bit tired. But it was friendly, and we felt we could relax. We didn't eat breakfast, but we did have dinner in the restaurant: it was basic and nice. We got a real sense from the staff that they were happy to have us there, and that makes a big difference to the overall feeling of the place.
On location, we booked it as a place to stay as a base for Lyon. It's probably a bit too far for that - the train only goes once per hour and the last train back from Lyon leaves at around 9pm.
It's no palace, but we left smiling.
