A Taste of Costa Rica
This was a most pleasant experience. Check in was super easy and our room had such character. The hotel footprint is lovely. From the colorful exterior, bright and airy breakfast area, open roof area overseeing the city to the beautiful front porch that we could sit and enjoy the weather from. Casa 69 is a very special place. The staff was extremely helpful at breakfast, working with us to contact different tour agencies to get questions answered and also willing to help book excursions with pick up at Casa 69. We met the new owner who was a delight to talk to. He was also very helpful and accommodating when we had some travel plan changes. You won't find a better place to stay when visiting San Jose, Costa Rica!!

es un hotel que te hace sentir como en casa, así son sus instalaciones muy agradables, limpias y cómodas, cada habitaciones cuentan con una terraza. su fachada es una casa y consta de dos inmuebles en el principal se encuentra la recepción y restaurant y algunas habitaciones y en frente otro inmueble con habitaciones mas grande, yo estuve en las dos casa solo que en la de enfrente hay muchos gatos que te siguen. el personal te apoya mucho y realizan reservaciones a tours. el desayuno que ofrecen consta de café, pan y fruta de la región y platillos a la carta. todo muy bien. EL PERSONAL LOLA, JOHOVANI MUY AMABLES. esta igualito a las fotografías. muy recomendable y el precio también. pasa el tren muy cerca y en algunas habitaciones se llega a escuchar un poco.

Muy ameno, las habitaciones no tienen teléfono si necesitas algo debes de ir hasta la recepción. Se escucha mucho ruido de las demás habitaciones, ponen música hasta la madrugada y no se les llama la atención por respeto a los demás huéspedes. De lo demás todo muy bien.

Case 69 friendly staff local area lacking
Friendly helpful staff, clean and traditionally decorated rooms. Not much in the way of food or entertainment in area apart for an Irish pub. San Jose is not the jewel of Costa Rica and good as a stopover really.

If you don't purchase tours from them you won't get good service, fumigation is need it badly and bring US dollars because breakfast is sold Im US dollars not their local currency! !

Good value, cozy hotel
Nice, cozy hotel in the heart of San Jose. It's located next to a few fun bars. The only complaints we have are that the shower water didn't stay warm very long.

Tolles Hotel - nicht so tolles Personal
Wir haben während unserer Rundreise 3x in diesem Hotel übernachtet. Beim ersten mal wurde unsere Buchung nicht gefunden, haben aber trotzdem ein Zimmer bekommen, die anderen zwei mal verliefen problemlos. Die Zimmer sind individuell eingerichtet, wie ich finde sehr gemütlich. Bequemes Bett und großes Bad! Das Hotel an sich liegt ca 20-30 gehminuten von der einkaufsmeile undi in die andere Richtung zu einer mall entfernt. Es hat einen sehr schönen Innenseiten, in dem sich das Frühstück serviert wird. Bis hier hin ist alles gut, nur das Personal (bis auf den Mann, der etwas humpelt) ist nicht wirklich freundlich. Egal was man nachfrägt, man wird schief angeschaut, stoßt auf unverständnis (und ich meine nicht die sprachbarriere) - ist ja nicht so das diese Leute hier angestellt sind haha. Ein Beispiel, als wir nach dem wäscheservice gefragt haben, wurden die Augen gerollt und während sie ja okay oder so gemurmelt hat ist sie schon weggelaufen ohne uns zuzuhören oder ausreden zu lassen. Am nächsten morgen war eine andere angestellte nicht besser. Als ich nach der Wäsche gefragt hatte, hat sich diee erst laut mit einem anderen bei einem darüber aufgeregt, meine total zerKnüller Wäsche in den Empfangsraum getragen, so daß die Hälfte bald auf dem Boden gelandet wäre, und diese dann auf einen Tisch geworfen, so daß zB meine Unterwäsche etc für jeden Anwesenden im Raum sichtbar war. Als sich doch mal dazu entschieden hatte, die Wäsche zu ordnen, habe iCh diese gepackt und bin weg

A small oasis
A little bit out of the central area, but i considered that a positive (and i also found it to be walking distance from downtown). Really helpful staff and unique room. I only stayed a night and left early in the morning for a tour, so can't comment on breakfast.

Extrer Lärm von frph morgens (Zug, Angestellte) bis nachts (Bars nebenan). Sehr tierliebe Unterkunft mit umzähligen Katzen und Kakerlaken. Sofern Sie sich mit Ihrem Gepäck von den widerwilligen Angestellten helfen lassen sollten, werden Sie -durch entsprechendes Handling - schnell umentscheiden und es selber tragen ... Das uninteressante Stadtzentrum ist fussläufig erreichbar und das Frühstück ist für den Preis o.k..

Staff like Henry, Giovanni, Carlos helped with Spa
Spanish speaking staff like Henry, Giovanni, Carla, Carlos, and others helped me with communication for third party contacting within hotel rules as I know only ten words or so for making phone needs known. They aren't concierge per se but can help if you provide numbers. Showers hot, fruit amazing, and fruit juice superb for mixing with protein powder for post dental work needs. Soft bakery bread paired with my foil tuna packets, since I didn't want to go out with fron teeth 2 days?.You need your own phone. Trains go by for 25 seconds several times daily but didn't disturb me, a light sleeper. Guests had the pass code.

Comfortable, Convenient Place to Explore the City
Warm, friendly, and safe, centrally located. Everyone speaks great English, delicious continental breakfast, easy walking distance to city center and museums. Very reasonably priced, and they even did our laundry for a small extra fee! A little piece of home in San Jose.

Charming out-of-the way place
On my first solo visit to this country, I was charmed by this little hotel, just a bit west of downtown San Jose. My room was spacious and the staff were helpful & accommodating.

it is a great place to stay,very close to everything,clean,well kept,the only one thing i will say that the breakfast included bread,coffe,fruit,but if you are in Costa Rica it should have Pinto,unfortunatly it had a cost of 5 dollars

Really great hotel, loved it.
Really nice hotel, a great value for the price point. The rooms are nicely decorated, functional and very clean, although a bit small. The bathroom towels were excellent, very soft. You can tell the place has a woman's touch. The room also has a small safe protect small valuables. The one thing that I I didn't like is that the food/fruit at breakfast needs to be better covered given that it's served in an area open to the elements and insects. The fruit was poorly wrapped and the bugs were all over the fruit. They have a deck on the top floor which is nice. It could use some better furniture and perhaps covered seating to prevent the furniture from getting soaked when it rains and to provide a bit of shade as well. Spending a few dollars to make the deck a little nicer would practically make this hotel the perfect place to stay for me. I'm probably going to make this place my preferred hotel during my visits to San Jose.

Run... Run far, far way.
Bad neighborhood, dirty pillows, not hot water, rude staff... shady place at best. Read that someone was murdered here 1.5 years ago... that's always nice.

hotel is next to the train. Train horn is LOUD and they HONK the horn every 30 minutes.

Walking distance to tracopa bus station
Just stayed one night before leaving with a bus from tracopa bus station. The hotel feels safe, has a beautiful lobby with superfriedy staff. The wifi is good. It's a bit noisy during the day due to trains and traffic, but OK at night. Good breakfast! Would have preferred AC, but the ceiling fan worked just fine as well. Would definitely recommend the place!

An attractively decorated hotel close to the city
I stayed at Casa 69 for 4 nights which was my third time at the hotel. The first two times I stayed at the main house and this last time I stayed at the "annex" on the other side of the street. Both parts of the hotel are clean and extremely well decorated. However, the main part of the hotel is far more interesting because there is a fishpond at the back and the rooms have been built around a large tree, almost giving the upstairs rooms the impression of living in a tree house. When I arrived I was not asked which part of the hotel I would prefer and was given a room across the street. I found the rooms on the other side of the street to be nice but not particularly interesting, just another hotel. Without the ability to select which part of the hotel I am going to stay at, I won't be going back. However, the staff is excellent and the morning breakfast of coffee, fruit and bread is extremely healthy.

Lovely cosy place- shame about the trains!
Lovely place with very friendly staff and good breakfast. We were made to feel at home when we arrived and given breakfast on our day of arrival. The rooftop terrace is nice but was a little windy. The major downside is the extremely noisy trains which pass very close to the hotel and sound their horns incessantly- a noise which penetrates through even the most dense earplugs! Be warned!

Near perfect Bed and Breakfast
We only have positive things to say about Casa 69. The location was perfect. Within less than 10 minute walk from the Jade and National Museums. A few minutes more and one is downtown on the walking street. The hotel is beautifully decorated in a tropical theme. Rooms are clean and bright. Staff are friendly, helpful and informative. Breakfasts are outstanding with self serve tropical fruit plate, fresh French loafs, coffee and juice. One can also have pancakes, bacon and eggs, omelettes, etc. Area on the roof has loungers for reading or relaxing. Staff will arrange transportation. Everything about this place is positive!

Incredibly loud
It was really bad, two nights of poor sleep. The guests were extremely noisy inside and there are two very active night clubs next door. In spite of strict noise regulations in San Jose, the party continued until 2 a.m. A real pity. The hotel includes an Annex, if you are placed in the annex, it is even more noisy.

Relaxing good feeling
Staff is the greatest and I like everything about this hotel. Will be back and that is because of this hotel. Can't say I have ever wanted to return to a place before because of the hotel but that's how much I loved it.

The staff there are VERY FRIENDLY! We have like a million questions and they are always so patient with us and help as much as they can. Really generous and nice peopel! And Lucy the cat!! Super sweet and not afraid of people at all!

Sencillo para primera noche en Costa Rica.
Muy buena atención. Está cerca de la vía del tren, por lo que hasta cierta hora de la noche se escuchaba el sonido de los trenes al pasar, pero no fue toda la noche y pudimos descansar. Al día siguiente nos iríamos a la zona del Caribe.

Loud Trains. Weak breakfast. Good location.
Trains constantly driving by and are very loud. This was the biggest downside. Another issue was the breakfast; some small pieces of white bread with bananas and pineapple. That's it. So when you pay for breakfast included you could really just go buy a banana, pineapple and some bread at the store instead. Staff were friendly and location was good.
