Granbell is a hidden gem; great value for the money; access to a small fitness room and onsen spa bath on top floor is also a plus.
We would stay there again;
very near the city centre. new and clean hotel. with free indoor onsen. it was raining and there were lotsa free umbrella to use. park parking available.
Staff were very welcoming, the decor and designing is nice, clean and modern.
The room was a little narrow but perfect non the less.
The accessibility to transport and travel on foot to near by food and shopping centres was amazing.
Overall i really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again.
I had the most wonderful and comfortable ten days in this hotel. The lobby had a big movie screen showing old Hollywood black and white movies. I loved every moment.
It is directly in front of Houseisusukino station and so it is easy to get to. The hotel is also near the main susukino area and odori areas with many food options. However, the hotel staff only speak basic english and we experienced difficulties explaining a small issue when we called the front desk.
Overall a pleasant stay still.
Granbell Hotel Susukino was an excellent choice for our stay at Hokaido Susukino. This hotel met our needs for convenience in shopping, dining and transportation. The staffs were professional, courteous and reliable. Breakfast had a lot of choices. We love our stay at Granbell Hotel Susukino. Thank you!
Clean room, good location.
front desk staff can't understand English and also not willing to understand.
Not a pleasant experience. He also shows impatient.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The pros are that the hotel is located well. The staff was friendly, and the outdoor baths inside and outside the hotel were small but nice. There was no noise, and the beds were comfortable. I know the cons because I have a lot of experience traveling to Japan. However, compared to a room with two twin beds, there was no space to put personal belongings around the hotel sink. Also, the area around the bed was too narrow for one adult to move around. Naturally, there was no room to open the checked bag. Also, there was not enough space to hang winter coats. There was no place to use the coffee pot provided in the hotel room. My husband and I stayed for 7 nights, and the room was supposed to be cleaned twice, but the cleaning schedule was not met, so we ended up getting cleaned only once. I had already talked to the hotel about the unmet schedule, and they apologized and said they would clean the room the next day, but since they did not fix it, I will not talk about it anymore. Also, when you check in at the hotel, you are given a coupon for a free bowl of noodles, but to use it, you have to pay for the table and use it together with a certain amount set by the hotel. If you don't use it, it's over, but if you're going to do that, the hotel should stop advertising the free bowl of noodles and just stop providing it.
This is a very nice, clean, classy hotel in a great central location in the lively Susukino district of Sapporo.
My only “complaint” really had to do with the size of our room. It was extremely tiny without a closet or any drawers for storage. The distance between the bed and the wall was only about a foot (30 cm), while the distance between the foot of the bed and that wall was not more than 2 feet (60 cm). The opposite (window) side of the bed had more space but shared it with a small round table, a chair and a stool. We stayed for 10 days and so not having a place to unpack our clothes or store our suitcases was a challenge. We were able to squeeze our suitcases under the bed but it was extremely awkward and inconvenient to retrieve our clothing. When the suitcases were on the floor we literally had to crawl over the bed or step inside our medium-sized suitcases to get to the other side of the room. For this reason I would only recommend this hotel for a short stay (2-3 days) if you are traveling with just a small suitcase or tote.
Another issue (for women) is the bathroom lighting. It was quite dim and unsuitable for applying makeup. I had to sit on the stool next to the window to use natural light to see well enough to apply my makeup. I’m so glad I thought to bring my own mirror.
Most things were great - rooms are clean but a little cosy. That's what you expect from most hotels in Japan at this price range anyway.
Area is pretty good – Susukino has lots of dining options, bars etc. Very walkable to Odori if the weather is nice too.
