Good Area for St. Martin Beach and Dining Options
Nicely designed unit with a great view and overall facility and provided assets. Owner/manager responsive quickly to needs. (Note that there are many steps to access the rental and within it -- not a problem in general for us but likely not a good rental for any not so able guests. Inside is a descent to toilet and ascent to it from kitchen and living areas. Ascent and descent also to pool and parking -- the latter a concern with baggage and groceries.) AC only in bedroom -- also not a concern for us but that situation needs to be noted. One issue that also is a concern: the description indicated "satellite TV" which is NOT the case. There is access for subscribers to assorted TV services via a modest and fairly slow internet connection (free wifi is provided) but that is not "satellite TV" and is not a service or services everyone has subscribed to. Again, this quite simply is a communication that needs to be in the description for the property. We liked the location very much and found the unit and general property charming.

Quaint little 2 level one bedroom unit. The bathroom is upstairs and the bedroom downstairs, waking up in the middle of the night to urinate involves navigating the rather narrow staircase. The bed was comfy enough and the unit was clean. The kitchen is accessible from the porch but not within the unit. The unit should be more at a $70 per night range imho.

Good evening M Johnemus Thank you for your comment. You paid actually 75$ a night. But yes, as mentionned on our website we are on a hill so strairs are part of our daily routine. There are actually only 5 steps to reach the level of the restroom and the bath room. The kitchen is on the private terrasse of the unit, its made so you have the sunrise when you wake up and no smell when you cook. it is thrue that our appartment has a europpean style, we are really sad that you did not appreciate it. that unit please a lot of our customers normally.

I love how the unit was very high up within the complex and right next to the swimming pool. The property manager was attentive to our needs. The unit was quite and spacious. The unit was a unique place to stay which immersed tenants into the culture.

For a low cost hotel, this is top notch! The staff is super sweet and they are very eco-friendly. You will feel the island and feel the people and their warmth toward you. It is welcoming and the rooms are very spacious.

Home Away From Home
This hotel and stafl are really nice there is a nice pool to cool off in anytime of the day or night and you really don't have to walk very far to catch the local bus you have nice views don't matter which apt you get step outside across the street and be careful while taking great pictures of Iguanas .Sit outside enjoy dinner , drink coffee or sip on a glass of anything and watch the sunset . If your knees are bad or an older couple I would call the hotel and check to see if the lower apts are available i had one and was very grateful .as there are many many steps to the higher level .

Great stay! Thank you!
Helpful staff/owners. Close to the beach and close to Grand Case for restaurants. The staff was so welcoming and guided us on what to do in the area. Well appointed rooms along with a nice pool also. After many visits to a number of hotels and resorts on SXM, this place covered all the bases and I can't wait to return. Thank you!

Relaxed and Fun
I spent two weeks staying here, it is a nice quiet area, short walk to the beach with a nice ocean side town near by for evening drinks and food. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the rooms have all you require to be self-sufficient if you desire. I will be back!

Résidence près de la plage
Nous avons passer un très beau séjour chez Idolem. La chambre était parfaite et propre. À 10 minutes de marche de la plage Baie Orient. Celle-ci a d'ailleurs été l'un de notre coups de coeur. Facile d'accès à la route principale, resto ou épicerie. Le staff très accueillant et s'assure que tout est à notre satisfaction. Un gros MERCI! De votre gentil couple Québecois

L'accueil s'est très bien passé et le Check in fut rapide. En plus nous avons été surclassées. Très belle prestation pour le prix.nous logions au numéro 4, c'était parfait calme et juste en dessous de la piscine. Belle vue de la terrasse avec hamac sur l'étang.

Nice Residence 10 min by feet from L'Orient + pool
Nice Residence-Hotel 10 min by feet from L'Orient Beach, the staff (run by a family) is really friendly and helpful. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable, with patio, and view on the bird pond and ocean in the background, very clean also. Nice pool.

Excellent and quiet location
Rõõm in good shape when we arrived with the GM waiting for us to check in which was late due to our flight didn't land until 10pm.....no issues with the room other then a few light bulbs that burnt out that were quickly replaced. Would definitely recommend this location as I've been to 8 different locations in Orient Bay area during my 15 visits to the island

Family run nice apartments on a budget
This place is great when you are looking for a budget apartment in a quiet area for a good nights sleep, but otherwise planning to move around the island with a car. The place has a lot of stairs so not ideal for people with movement difficulties. The apartments are quiet and cool thanks to air conditioning. Beds are premium offer good sleep. Huge balconies with beautiful views. Wifi was also better than any other place on the island. Kitchenettes are also well equipped (you even get a toaster, which is really unnecessary), the bathroom less so. The place also offers a cozy swimming pool with views at the salt lake. Usually nobody here so good to relax and enjoy the sunshine. As for the negatives: We lacked a hairdryer and we did not get one even on request. So be prepared to bring your own. There is really nothing in the area within walking distance apart from a posh restaurant. The beach and the supermarket are NOT walking distance, unless you don't mind walking 20+ mins among cars with no sidewalks. You need to have a car, bike or some sort of way to move around from here, but can otherwise be a good base. Room service is every 4 (!) days which we found too rare. Room service every 2 days or so would have made it much more comfortable. Mosquitoes also show up around dawn and dusk so be prepared for those too.

Très bon séjour, appartement bien équipé proche de la plage. Déconseillé aux personnes aillant des problèmes de mobilité (beaucoup de marches). Leader price et pharmacie à proximité. Ilet Pinel à visiter tout à coté. Nous ne souhaiterions qu'une seule chose : y retouner.

We enjoyed our 'residence' style (aka hill side condo) hotel. The staff was very friendly and provided great suggestions on things to do. Our room had a great view of the lagoon and beach.

Great Balcony and open outdoor kitchen.
Accomodations were great, clean, inviting. Open living areas to balcony and kitchen on balcony with huge window for more openess. Balcony with great hammock. Air conditioned bedroom. Not in the touristy area if you like these locations.

A quiet and relaxing sanctuary!
Idolem is a small “boutique” hotel operated by a friendly French family. If you are expecting a corporate (e.g. Marriott, Sheraton) this is not for you. If you’re looking for an intimate, quiet, and low key stay then this is it! The Idolem Residence was beautiful, clean, and really well maintained (see my photos!). It is painted white and looks like it belongs on the Greek Mediterranean. Idolem has a pool, which is a little on the small side, but seems to be rarely used by guests. It turned out to be great spot to sit and sleep or catch up on reading. There is also a family of iguanas living across the road next to the salt pond. The units were clean, basically furnished and very spacious! Each unit had a well-equipped kitchen which saved a lot of $$ spent in restaurants. Air conditioning was installed in the bedrooms, but not the main rooms (generally there is always a cool sea breeze from the Atlantic, so it was never really too hot).

The pictures you see online make it look a lot better than it really is. The hotel location is inconvenient unless you have a car. The reception is never open to attend your needs. The room was full of mosquitoes. I would not go back.

Nice hotel close to the beach
I highly recommend Idolem, it is very quiet and nice residence. The location is perfect, close to beautiful beaches, supermarket, restaurants, and you can practice yoga!!

Grosszügiges Appartmenthotel
Die Appartementanlage liegt zwar nicht direkt am Strand, dieser kann jedoch über einen Schleichweg innerhalb von Ca. 10 Minuten erreicht werden. Das Appartement erstreckt sich über 3 Ebenen mit einer schönen Terrasse. Von hier blickt man auf einen Binnensee. Mit einem Auto sind zwei Supermärkte schnell zu erreichen und ein weiterer Strand an der Karibikseite.

Very Nice Place and Very Nice People
We rented a 2-bedroom unit. This is an apartment with everything we needed for the week. The bedrooms are small but are air conditioned. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony, where we could see the ocean and sunrise. Fully equipped kitchen and large bathroom. The surrounding area was quiet and well-kept, with a nice restaurant within easy walking distance. The people who worked there were very gracious and accommodating. We would stay there again if we return to St. Martin.

Great Vacation
Very quaint hotel and quiet surroundings. We rarely saw other guests and never heard or were disrupted by anyone (ie: no footfalls other head or down hallways or chatter though thin walls). The manager Paublo was very friendly and quick to respond to a question we had. Two things I would suggest when staying at this hotel. First and foremost, rent a car. Although there are two restaurants within a short walk (one is next door), please go out and experience the entire island. Both sides have a different feel and dining, so be adventurous. Also, be forewarned there are a lot of stairs and no elevator. We did not have a problem with the 86 stairs (one way) to our room, but for anyone with bad knees, hips, or health it is something to consider.

Nice small quiet boutique hotel
We had a fantastic time in St Maarten and staying at Indolem Residence played a major part in our enjoyment. Pablo is an attentive and gracious host. We are not big resort people – we like the small, quiet and intimate settings like Indolem. Resorts have many loud people, they're too big and too impersonal, too much like large resorts anywhere. At Indolem, we got a better experience of the St Maarten culture. And, we could walk out the door and feed iguanas and wild goats across the street. Housekeeping came only once in the middle of our week stay there. This was adequate. The facility is very quiet, and is set into the hillside with all rooms have a large deck and view over a small bay to Olympic Beach beyond. It is possible to walk to that beach. The small pool and sun deck also look out over the small bay Access to the Hotel is very easy, and it is conveniently situation near Olympic Beach, Oyster Pond and Grande Case where there are several 5 star quality restaurants Having Pablo make reservations at restaurants, boats to St Barts, catamaran cruises is easy and there may be discounts involved. We look forward to visiting again

Nice Condo with a View
The condo was located in a quiet part of Saint Martin (French-side) that was easy to get to, within a 10 minute walk to the beach, and had excellent staff that were quick to respond to questions or concerns by email. The condo facility had a lot of steps since it was built on a hillside.

Amazing!!
We loved our stay at Idolem Residence! We travel several times a year and this was one of the nicest places we've stayed. Beautiful setting,very spacious and well maintained. Rather hard to find but Pablo was gracious enough to stay late and wait for us to show up. Recommend getting good driving directions before arriving as street signs are few. Remember you are on the French side so no English TV and taking dual wattage hair appliances are suggested. Would stay here again and highly recommend!

Within walking distance to Orient Bay.
We stayed over the New Year's holiday with 3 teenage children. The condo was nice and was very clean, and had a European vibe. The view was gorgeous. There is air conditioning but in the bedrooms only. It kept our condo cool however. We always had hot water for our showers. The bathroom had towels, washcloths, shampoo, conditioner, and soap as well as a hair dryer which was really nice. The kitchen was outside the actual condo in another room which was strange, but it worked. The kitchen could have used kitchen towels and basics like salt, pepper, napkins, sugar, creamer and coffee. . We forgot our converter but Melodi had one for sale. It is a beach condo but there were no beach towels to use. We had to buy own own. There were lots of cats roaming around which were there to eat all the bugs and lizards.The cats will climb onto your balcony and try to get into the condo if your door is open. We only had one huge bug in our kitchen one day but that was all. Over all it was a pleasant experience. Melodi and Pablo were very gracious and pleasant and tried to be accommodating to we Americans.

Nice hotel near Grand Case
This is a small family owned boutique hotel. Great value for the money. Small Kitchen, maid service only once a week but this was not an issue for us. RGS

Recommendable
The hotel had more character of an apartment building than a hotel. The apartment in which I stayed was spacious and in a good shape. The kitchen was well equipped, and there was a big balcony. The owners/staff were helpful and discrete at the same time. I got a special off season offer and for that price I have nothing to complain about. The neighborhood was quiet but in some distance away from beaches and supermarkets. All in all I enjoyed my stay and can recommend the place.

Lovely & relaxing stay!
It was a lovely hotel. So quiet and relaxing. Was not set in a very touristic spot - off the beaten track a bit but definitely worth staying at. I had hired a car to get around so it didn't matter that there weren't restaurants within walking distance. It was just what I needed, Lovely room, nice views, great amenities and lots of peace and quiet.
