Absolutely charming spot tucked away, yet close to the action in Sonoma. The proprietor was absolutely dedicated and so artistic, and breakfast was out of this world. Quiet on the property, and the birds accompanied a sound sleep.

Charming room with separate bath, no shower in a cute little cottage house sitting on two acres in the middle of wine country. Lucille is an amazing 87 year old woman with an endless amount of stories about her life which for us was well worth the stay there. She does a beautiful continental breakfast with everything made from scratch. The cottage is less than 10mins from town of Sonoma.

Lucille was an incredible host! The house is charming, beautifully decorated, and full of personality. She made us feel so welcome and even shared stories about her travels and life—it felt really special and personal. The location in Sonoma is peaceful and scenic, perfect for relaxing. Our stay was cozy, memorable, and added so much to my 21st birthday weekend. Highly recommend!

We stayed overnight at Hollyhock House and found it a delightful experience. The room was cosy and the bathroom was conveniently situated right next door. The breakfast, prepared by hostess Lucille, was delicious. Baked breads prepared by herself, jams, , eggs, and fresh fruit, with juices and coffee to accompany the meal. Lucille is also a delightful and interesting conversationalist.

Book a night at Hollyhock Country House

We loved our stay at Hollyhock. The owner has been doing this for over 35 years, the concept is nothing new to her. It is very European, you’re staying in a cozy room within her home. We had our own bedroom and bathroom, it all felt very private, and un-rushed. This was one of our more relaxing stays, the street was quiet, which may have aided in that serene feeling. Breakfast the next day was wonderful, we had so many options. If we ever visit Sonoma again we hope to stay at Hollyhock.

This is classic B and B. House owner is friendly. She prepared nice breakfast for us and chat with us. House is old but clean. There is no shower, only bath tube. So it’s very hard to wash hair. I just wait until I get home.

A Peaceful, Sunlit Gem with Heart and Character Staying at Hollyhock Country House is nothing like your typical beige hotel or Motel 6 experience. This is a truly special stay, you’re not just renting a room, you’re being welcomed as a guest into Lucile’s charming and character-filled home. The house is clean, well-kept, and full of personality, with beautiful decor collected from her travels around the world. Conversations with Lucile are a joy—she’s a wonderful host with fascinating stories and a kind, calming presence. Mornings here are lovely: breakfast is fresh and simple with eggs, bread, and seasonal fruit, enjoyed in a space flooded with natural sunlight. The house is bright and peaceful, and despite being close to nature, it’s impressively bug-free. If you’re looking for a quiet, meaningful, and sun-drenched escape with warmth and soul, Hollyhock Country House is it.

No Shower -- ONLY a TUB Very small bedroom, not enough room for 2 adults, loud hardwood floors that woke each other up both up each night if one of us needed to use the toilet at night. Not enough counter space in the bathroom - nowhere to put HABAs or shaving kit. 4+ pillows that clogged up the bed, obscuring napping or sleeping space. 1pillow per person would have been find. Very old, ornate antique everything. If you like that, then this is right for you. What I Liked: The morning coffee and the host's handmade fresh baked fruit filled pastries.

We really enjoyed our stay, the historic and unique wood work, the old fashioned decors. And of course Lucille’s hospitality and the wonderful breakfast. We hope to return in the near future, and spend more time on the property to relax and bird watch.

My ONLY beef is that Expedia does NOT make it clear that you are renting a room in someone's house. This is something I normally would never do....and wouldn't have had I known... but the beauty of the Farmhouse, the kindness of our host Lucille, and the gorgeous breakfast made it worthwhile. And the bed is so comfy....I slept so soundly and peacefully! I enjoyed my stay very much.

This is a very charming nearly 100 year old farmhouse. Our room was very cozy and welcoming. Lucille made us feel right at home. We had a wonderful breakfast including fresh baked bread and pastries. We enjoyed our stay here and loved this very unique and special place.
