"Anniversary Stay at Bannisters Port Stephens
We stayed at Bannisters to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The welcome was warm, and our Luxury Suite was clean and comfortable. However, we had hoped for a special gesture, such as champagne or flowers, to mark the occasion.
Dining at Julio’s and Rick Stein was delicious but expensive, with disappointingly slow service. We appreciated Rick Stein’s thoughtful acknowledgement of our anniversary at the end of our meal.
For a luxury resort, facilities and activities were limited. A fitness centre and more opportunities to explore the local beaches and nature would be welcome additions.
Overall, an enjoyable stay, but the service and amenities could better reflect the resort’s premium pricing."
"This property is in a great location and the pool area is an asset to this property - very clean and well maintained. However, the unit we had, while spacious and with a lovely outlook over the pool area, needs some TLC. It was tired and in need of a repaint and new furniture, the tv unit had a door that fell off when opened and had large chips in it. The second bedroom could do with a ceiling fan given that the bedroom window could only be opened about 10cm! There was a pedestal fan in the room but was so covered in thick dust it was a risk to turn it on. The fridge door did not seal properly and popped open whenever the freezer door was opened. Had to keep the fridge on super cool mode and ensure that the door was pushed hard to get a slight seal. Kitchen bench tops had chips and deep cuts in it. The unit lacked any character and felt a bit sterile and only just clean. Some utensils, glassware and cooking pans were not clean - had been rinsed and put back in the cupboard would be my guess. For the price this property needs to lift its game there are other options in Nelson Bay for a better price and deliver a better standard. We left in a Saturday morning thankfully as it seemed that there were a few party groups in for the weekend. No consideration for anyone else - shouting across balconies and very loud voices in the pool area."
"I had a motel-style pod and it was great; everything felt new, and whilst the pods are compact, they have everything you need. The only thing missing was a hair dryer so make sure you BYO if required. But otherwise, great accom in a lovely holiday park with lots of facilities"
"Disappointed with reception hours. Ensuite door was off the tracks and had to re-hang it to get access to the bathroom. Blinds do not cover all the windows, so at first light the bedroom was brilliantly lit, no sleep-ins. Camp kitchen appliances not working.
Pool was excellent and lovely temperature. Location is excellent."
"Our room was compact but was clean, well maintained and had everything one needs for a short stay. The fridge, toilet, shower and extractor fan in the bathroom, as well as the air-conditioner in the room all worked well. The mattress was comfortable. The staff allowed us an earlier check in. There's a pizzeria close by that does brekky and opens every morning at 7am. A nice stay in a pretty place."
