Taormina Coast, Sicily hotel rooms at the Independent

"Lovely hotel overall, and we were pleased to be given one of the newly renovated bedrooms on the second floor. The room was spacious with a fantastic sea view, which made for a great first impression. Unfortunately, our room was interconnected, and this significantly affected our stay. We had the misfortune of very noisy neighbors returning in the early hours, and due to the connecting door, we could hear everything — conversations, showering, even toilet use. This made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep and was quite disappointing. Dinner at the main restaurant was acceptable: the service was excellent, but the food itself was fairly average and not particularly memorable. At check-out, we mentioned the issue about the noise and lack of sleep to the receptionist. While they thanked us for the feedback regarding the new rooms, nothing further was done to address our concerns, which was a bit disheartening. This hotel has great potential and could be a truly lovely place to stay. However, I would strongly recommend avoiding interconnected rooms unless you’re comfortable hearing your neighbors in detail."

"The location of the property was great but the room wasn’t very clean with dust bunnies and dead bugs. The property claims to have a 24 hr bus shuttle to and from the Catania airport but it doesn’t exist. You have to call a taxi to get to the airport. There was only a thin sheet on the bed so I had to use towels for additional warmth. "

"This is an exceptional resort hotel. Absolutely everything was top notch! The location is perfect, there is plenty of parking, and the bungalow rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast is delicious and beautifully presented, and the patio available for breakfast searing is just amazing. The views are unparalleled."

"This is a wonderful place to stay while in Taormina. The staff and owners make you feel like part of the family. Exquisite views, top notch breakfast, and Matteo makes the best cappuccinos! Close to the bus line and Corso Umberto (the main street). We want to return next year to the same room! Highly recommend!"
