"Room with private external bathroom in this historic home that was like a living museum. Excellent value for money. Large, spacious with everything we needed for a good overnight stay. "This is an excellent hotel on an outstanding property. With a few tweaks, it would be a top shelf resort in Duoro Valley—highlights: reception—informative, gracious, helpful & delish welcome drinks, the food, an incredible chef, we loved the included breakfast with options to add on dishes, rooms—ours was very well equipped, comfortable with a private terrace and semi private pool (Amarela section) There are many options at different price points. The views are stunning!! We enjoyed the onsite winery tour and tasting and learned a lot about how ports are made. We would’ve explored the neighboring town, but we did not wish to leave the property! Dinners were lively & delish. Only downside—service was up & down. Some servers were excellent while others were indifferent Apart from this (easily addressable) issue, the place is utterly charming and serene!!!"

"You simply pay for the views at this hotel. There are no frills outside of that (which was fine for my stay) the rooms had AC which was great. The staff was nice but it seems they were understaffed and simple requests took longer than other hotels I stayed at in Portugal. The buffet breakfast was convenient as there aren’t many food choices in the area to go to. I would go back simply because of the views and the relaxing property!"

"Our two-night stay at The Vine House at Quinta de São Luiz was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. With only 11 beautifully designed rooms, it feels peaceful, intimate, and incredibly special. The rooms were spotless, modern, comfortable, and even smelled amazing. The bed and linens made for a wonderful night’s sleep, and waking up to breathtaking views of the Douro Valley was unforgettable. The infinity pool is spectacular and surprisingly private, allowing us to fully relax while taking in the incredible scenery. Even with vineyard tours taking place nearby, the pool area remained quiet and secluded. Dinner at the restaurant was exceptional, with delicious food and thoughtful attention to every detail. Our stay also included a tour and wine tasting at Kopke Port Wines, which was fantastic and added even more to the experience. If you’re looking for a place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy some of the most beautiful views in Portugal, The Vine House is truly magical. It’s the kind of place where evenings on your private terrace, overlooking the Douro Valley under a blanket of stars, become memories you’ll cherish forever. We would return in a heartbeat."

"Quinta da Marka is just WOW!!! The mansion itself is well furnished, quiet, the grounds are well maintained and amazing. The view of the Douro is breathtaking. The pool area is also simply amazing overlooking the Douro. The food and the service we’ve had there we just out of this world. The staff is so amazing and are so helpful and friendly. We had planned on visiting a few wineries during our stay there but were so comfortable that we didn’t move. They also produce their own wine so we just chillax and enjoyed the wine, food, pool, view, and service The ac in rooms was working really well Very highly recommended."
