"The room was dirty. There was no blanket, only an extremely thin sheet. I know it's a "cheap" hotel (not really), but compared to the rest of Galveston. However, my kids were absolutely freezing the entire night. I've never heard of a hotel not having a blanket; it was mind-boggling. The bathroom was dirty. The lamp on/off switches were literally caked in gunk. I was so close to just leaving, but I had nowhere to go, and it was only for a quick sleep. I wouldn't dare stay here again. "

Only problem was very loud noise from some kind of concert across from the Galvez in an open lot. Lasted until 1am then started again around 9am Saturday morning - it was an annoyance."

"I was laying in the bed watching tv, when something caught my eye. It was a roach crawling on my pillow. I jumped up and tried to kill it, but it got away. I immediately called the front desk to ask for a room change, but the front desk clerk advised that they were completely book. I advised that I wasn't staying in that room and they had to do something. He asked if I'd like someone to come to the room to try to get rid of it. I said yes. The guy came and at first we couldn't find the roach. Eventually, we found it and he disposed of it. I had a restless night because I didn't know if more roaches was in the room. Needless to say, I will never stay at this hotel again."

"I was very disappointed in my stay. When I checked in I found that the fridge wasn’t working, there were no robes provided, if you wanted hot water in the shower or sink you would have to run the water for at least 5 min and the lighting was horrible. There was no makeup mirror and the brightest part of the room was the toilet, so if I wanted to read I would have to sit on the toilet. And to top it off when you got off the elevator the mildew smell in the halls was overwhelming. What was once a lovely hotel is now a high priced motel."
