However I was quite proud of this shot, especially the detail on the underside of the wings.

Obviously this is a bird of prey, but I am unsure as to what it is exactly. I am hoping that the ornithologists out there may be able to help me.

An example of the flora to be sampled in this exciting part of the world.

However I am not a botanist, so I was unable to identify this flower. Although I thought that it looked similar to a species of Hibiscus?

Sunrise over the Drakensberg mountains.

Theres something so peaceful about mountainous environments. Maybe its because their monolithic forms dominate the landscape, leaving one feeling quite insignificant.

The Lilac Breasted Roller

Possibly one of the best photos I've taken. There is such a huge variety of different species of birds living in South Africa, but the lilac breasted roller has to be one of the most beautiful.

Shot on my birthday at Thornybush Game Reserve in Hoedspruit.

This place is absolutely stunning and much larger than I expected it to be. There are 3 large viewing decks so seeing animals at all hours of the day is easy. The staff are so friendly and surprised the guests with a dance and song after a boma dinner. Food also was amazing.
