This path winds its way through the center of Pittsburgh and ventures into the leafy suburbs filled with parks and football fields.

The Three Rivers Heritage Trail is a path along the three waterways of Pittsburgh, providing wonderful views of the city center. Running for about 25 miles (40 kilometers), the trail passes through several leafy parks and river access points. Take a canoe or kayak out on the water from a boat ramp and relax in the serene suburbs.

Join the many joggers on this long winding path, which has sections on both sides of the rivers. Rent a bike in the city center and cycle along the designated paths, enjoying views of the water. South Side Dog Park has a ramp where you can launch your canoe on the river.

Stroll east and admire the boats of the South Side Marina, before stopping for a picnic on the grassy slope of South Shore Riverside Park. From here at sunset, you’ll have opportunities for stunning photos of the water, Carnegie Mellon University and the Hot Metal Bridge.

Continue through the scenic Three Rivers Heritage Park and pass the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Club Training Ground, where college and pro football teams use indoor and outdoor training facilities.

Further along the trail, you’ll head through thickets of trees, as the city center transitions to peaceful suburbs. Spot trains passing along the tracks that begin to line the path and purchase a refreshingly cool snack from an ice cream parlor.

Back in the North Side Area, the trail passes some of the city’s main highlights, including Heinz Field and the Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. Explore Point State Park on the western side of the downtown district.

The Three Rivers Heritage Trail stretches from the center of Pittsburgh to the city’s southeastern outskirts. Much of the trail runs along both sides of the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers. Visit some of the neighboring areas, including South Side Flats, the Oakland Square Historic District and Four Mile Run.
