The Berounka is a river in the Czech Republic, the biggest left tributary of Vltava. It carries the name Mลพe from its source in Germany, next to the Czech border, until its confluence with the Radbuza in Pilsen. It then continues under the name of Berounka until it enters the Vltava on the edge of Prague. Originally, the entire stream was called Mลพe, but in the 17th century the lower course started to be named after the town Beroun, lying upon it. Berounka Nature Trail (canoeing) Route: The first information board is situated near the village of Zvรญkovec on the right bank of the Berounka. The trail finishes near Hlรกsnรก Tล™ebaลˆ. Length: about 60 km The unique Berounka canoeing nature trail goes through the Protected Areas of Kล™ivoklรกtsko and Czech Karst (ฤŒeskรฝ kras). Its route is formed by the Berounka River.
