This was a very unique property for us. It's part hostel part hotel. Our room was small but was fine. The staff was super nice and gave a tour of the property. We enjoyed the bar and the pool and we were within walking distance of a fabulous dining spot.

This was my first time being in a hostel and i am happy it was at this location. Pierre and his staff were amazing. They made sure everyone was taken care of. The dormatories from what inwas told are a lot better here then your average hostel. Pierre is more than willing to help you with your itinerary and where to eat. My stay in Uvita was a lot better because Tucan.

La convivialité à l’honneur
Certainement le meilleur hotel dans lequel nous sommes allées pour l’instant! La déco est parfaite, les patrons et les employés/volontaires sont adorables, il y a tous ce dont on peut avoir besoin (ustensiles de cuisine, serviettes, vélos, etc.) Seul petit bémol, la route est un peu bruyante mais ca ne m’a pas dérangé plus que ça.

Incredible staff running the hotel! Only down side is many dogs at the hotel that also poo wherever they like so if you don’t like dogs it wouldn’t be nice. Overall incredible place though and we really enjoyed it!

We had such a warm welcome at this hostel. It's a laid back place, where you can have some space and chill-out time, but also you can get some great tips from others also staying. We ate in one night and had a really great meal. The owners had just come back after a couple of years away and were beginning to make changes/update rooms. There is a great bakery opposite (try the cinnamon rolls) and the supermarket is a couple of minutes away. The kitchen facilities are ample and lots of fridge space. There are also lots of great restaurants nearby.

Highly recommended
Nice place, nice room, friendly staff, great cocktails, usefully kitchen. The Tucan hotel is the kind of place you feel well, that you don't want to leave. We can't tell all what we like about this place, well organised, shadowed parking... near to facilities and still a quiet place to sleep.

Great place.
Thank to Alex, Maria and Miguel. As a team and individuel you made our stay a Fun Mémorial Vacation. My sons AJ and Karl love this place. Very convenient and affordable. Like very much the fact we can cook our meal in the commun kitchen. Plenty Space to relax and meet other travelers.

Stayed in a double room with private bathroom but was disappointed to be in a stuffy room with no air flowing and very little space. All the rooms are very dark with no natural light. Breakfast not tasty but there is a baker not far from the hotel as an alternative. Recommendations for things to do in the area were not helpful and we had to insist to be booked on a certain tour.

Ma pire nuit au Costa Rica, sauve qui peut!
J'ai payé pour 3 nuits mais je suis partie le lendemain de mon arrivée, impossible de dormir, lit inconfortable, bungalow dans le jardin avec des trous dans les panneaux laissant entrer toutes sortes de bestioles, les chiens qui hurlent toute la nuit, masque obligatoire pour dormir car clarté dès le lever de soleil dans la chambre, trop bruyant malgré les boules quiès, et cerise sur le gâteau: ils éteignent la wifi de 9:30PM à 7:00AM !! Alors quand vous n'arrivez pas a dormir la nuit est très longue...le seul point positif est l espace commun avec le bar et les hamacs, sauf que c 'est désert donc difficile de rencontrer d'autres voyageurs.

Bonjour Magali! malheureusement vous avez reserve le RUSTIC BUNGALOW, qui est certainement plus economique mais cést, en fait, rustic et dans le jardin, comment les fotos le mostrent. On ne peut faire pas trop contre la lumiere de Costa Rica, ni meme pas contre les chiens des vecines. Et pour le WIFI, vous auriez peu demander: pour accident un client a eteigne le WIFI celle nuit la, dont la raison. Je vous remercie pour les comentaires, meme si j'áurais aime les ecouter en personne, comme ca on aurait peu expliquer les points qui meritaient une explication. Le fait que pendant son visite l'hostel n'etait assez peuple d'apres vous, ce n'ést pas un de ceux.

Sleeping in the jungle
Overall our experience was positive, the people working here are great and we enjoyed our breakfast and drinks from the bar. The location is a bit far from the beach but very convenient for the bus. We stayed in one of the outdoor rooms and I doubt we would be will to do it again. The bed was not very comfortable and I worried about bugs. Plus it rained through the entire night. It was a unique experience. We were also the only customers so the atmosphere was missing. Looks like it would be a fun place with more people.

This place was great for our family of four. The staff was so friendly and helpful, the community kitchen was well equipped, it was cozy to hang out on rainy days And the food was great!

Tree house sympa - Ambiance relax
Nous avons dormi deux nuits dans la cabane dans l'arbre. Plutôt cool et relativement confortable finalement. L'ambiance de l'hôtel est très sympa pour les rencontres ou pour relaxer. Les douches sont communes et l'accès à celle qui a de l'eau chaude n'est pas toujours évident. Supermarché au coin de la rue pratique. Les restaurants autour ferment assez tôt le soir (autour de 21h pour la plupart). Pas mal dans l'ensemble.

Great outdoor hostel and restaurant
We stayed only a few nights while we went to the beach, toured Corcovado, and went whale watching. Eventhough we weren't at the hostel the majority of our time, we still were pleased with our stay. Our room had an AC and sink. There is a shared kitchen where we cooked food and stored groceries in the fridge. There are a few shared bathrooms so it wasn't difficult to find an open shower each night. The restaurant had a lot of affordable options for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was under 3,000 colones while most dinner was less than 6,000.

Loved our time at the Tucan and even saw one there
Fun,relaxing, friendly place. Pleasant outdoor space for some great nature watching. Nice indoor areas for socialising. Good location near bus stop, shops,restaurants etc.Shortish walk to waterfalls. Useful free shuttle to beach. Good food in restaurant and also decent shared kitchen. Amazing,helpful friendly staff.

Personal muy agradable y un restaurante excelente.
Arrived very late at night, but that was no problem, everything was prepared for me to stay the night in on of the "green houses". Was like sleeping in the open; great jungle feeling. The personel of Tucan Hotel are very frien dly and helpful. Coffee is free and wifi is excellent. Good and reasonably affordable food at the restaurant.

Very colorful place!
We stayed six nights. Wednesday and Saturday were a little loud with the live band. Everything shuts down at 10 p.m. though. Nice to walk to the waterfall, bamboo forest, and local restaurants. Very close to a supermarket and having the communal kitchen was great.

A memorable and amazing week at Tucan!!
As three college students visiting Costa Rica over a break looking for adventure, relaxation and fun, Hotel Tucan met our expectations and then far exceeded them! Our stay felt like belonging to a community for a week - Betta (one of the owners) was extremely helpful in providing tips and recommendations on what to do, and all the staff were incredibly friendly. There are hammocks for relaxing/reading, the communal kitchen is really handy for being able to cook your own breakfasts, snacks, etc. and the restaurant is also reasonably priced and delicious! Especially for the value, we would all highly recommend this hostel/hotel to families, students, really anybody looking to have a great time in Uvita! One recommendation would be for travelers to rent a car if possible because a lot of the activities, beaches and parks become a lot more accessible and easier to get to.

Great hostel!!
If you are looking for a cool atmosphere and to meet other travelers this is your place! Great location between the waterfalls and the beach. Friendly staff, good food, and a great vibe! I would definitely stay here again!

clean and enjoyable place
well ubicated placea at the heart of uvita, close to supermarket and store. Clean place and we a kitchen well equipped for enjoying the nite at the place after a day of sun at the beach.
