Not In Varenna

Nicely appointed, fairly roomy, and great parking. Verandah with view. Interesting mountain stream onsite. - NOT in Varenna. This is 20 min away in Fiumelatte - There is NO Internet, so ensure you have local cell data - No window coverings, so you may be waking with the sunrise

There was zero communication; we kept calling and no one received call. So, when we reached the property, we could not even open the lock box to get the key. So, we were literally on the street at late night. We were forced to get another hotel on emergency basis and forced to pay highest price ever for two nights. We demand that Fontal Del Lago should pay these damages to us.

The view of the lake was spectacular and it was clean. Everything else was sub par. The condition of the property is a borderline fixer upper. Walls need painting. Concrete deck is stained with mildew. No toilet seat. Damage to walls and doors and multiple locations and other cosmetic issues. We arrived during check-in hours and had trouble with the lock box. We called two different numbers and no one picked up. We were finally able to get the lock box to pop open - not sure where we would have slept that night otherwise.

Instructions for check in were detailed and we had no problems. We were able to find a parking spot in the garage but be warned there are only a few and it's first come first serve. The view from the apartment is breathtaking. The location is in Fiumelatte, a 20-ish minute walk to Varenna which we were happy to do every day. The apartment amenities are basic but fine and comfortable and clean. My only real complaint is there was no Wifi network as advertised. And I did not hear back when I emailed about it. But we loved our stay here.

the unit reeked of mildew, and there was mold growing in a couple of places. unit was poorly outfitted as well. also the electrical outlets are outdated with no adapters available. no blankets or bed pad on bed. so room was cold. all around a poor experience. The property manager was uncommunicative and went silent after after a refund was requested. to date no one has responded.

Quiet, great views, parking, secure, and nice welcome package. No Wi-Fi. 25 minute walk to Varenna for some people can be challenging.

The apartment itself was nice but the location was disappointing and very misleading. It is in Fiumelatte not Varenna. Fiumelatte is a very isolated place not on the Eurail pass list or the main train route. There are no shops at all for getting snacks or supplies. The patio is not private as it looks in the photos and it is not directly on the water as it also looks in photos. The pullout bed was not a real bed and the room was extremely noisey at night. There was no wi-fi as advertised. The maintenance person offered another wi-fi access code but the reception was so poor it couldn't be accessed. The TV could not be plugged in as it required an extension cord. The only extension cord was also needed in the kitchen for the jug and microwave which was impractical. I would not recommend if you want somewhere with something to do. It would be a great place if you didn't want contact with the world.
