Aburaya Tosen
10/10 Excellent
"Very friendly staff the service was great. Everything was clean and comfortable."
Shibu Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"I absolutely loved Shibu Hotel! The staff went out of their way to help me at every opportunity, the food was incredible, and the location made exploring Shibu Onsen so easy. I can't recommend it enough! Staff: Before I arrived, they actually contacted ME about a pickup outside their posted pickup hours. I hadn't even asked because I assumed it wasn't an option! They checked the weather for me, and someone even ran after me with an umbrella when it started raining. I was traveling alone, and everyone was so warm and welcoming. They recognized me, seemed happy to see me, and I never had trouble communicating. Room: Beautiful traditional Japanese room with tatami and futons. Spacious, quiet, very clean, and I got to watch the fog roll in over the hills from my window! Baths/location: They gave me a yukata and a key with a little map for the nine public baths, and I bought a towel at the desk. But honestly? I liked the hotel's own bath even more. So refreshing! The hotel is also easy to spot, even after wandering the winding streets for ages. Food: Dinner was a beautiful multicourse meal. The fresh fish was wonderful, the beef nabe was incredible, and breakfast was full of little dishes with traditional Japanese flavors. I couldn't get over the tsukemono! I really loved this place. More than anything, it was how kind everyone was. They didn't just help when I asked—they noticed things and helped before I could even think to ask."

"The hotel name I not posted in English outside. Information center helped by providing a map and directions. Check in time is fixed. We arrived early and were asked to come back which wasn't a problem as there is a park close by and restaurants"

"We could not say more positive things about our stay at this Ryokan. It was such an amazing experience. We had the private onsen room and it was a 10/10."
Hotel&Resort Yamanouchi Hills
8/10 Good
"We came for a short stay to recharge between our destinations. This property is older, but the rooms and the bath were clean. The room was very spacious and had extra blankets and stuff which was nice. Free snacks and alcohol was awesome!! The baths were also so relaxing. Sweet views and chill vibes. We loved getting a taste of the authentic Japanese stay experience. Not a lot of options for food since the town (?) was really small. Worth it for the quiet nature experience though."
Shibu Onsen Ichinoyu Katei
10/10 Excellent
"Amazing experience. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The train station was nearby and the hotel will provide a shuttle if you ask the information booth to call. The nearby scenery is lovely and the onsens were great. If you are shy of public nudity, the hotel provides a private Onsen. We loved it and highly recommend!"
Shibu Onsen KOKUYA
10/10 Excellent
"Our stay here was amazing. The onsens were relaxing and beautiful, but the staff is what made our stay one of our favorite places while in Japan. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home."
Kanbayashi Hotel Senjukaku
10/10 Excellent
"This is our second time staying here. We come to Japan every few years because my wife loves the snow monkeys. The staff here was very helpful and communicated clearly. They'll arrange shuttle pickup from the Yadanaka local station because it can be hard to find of you're not familiar with the area. You really should get the half board and do traditional Japanese breakfast and breakfast. It is a peaceful and intimate look into traditional Japan. You can see the pride taken in the work. We will stay here every time we come to Japan."
Hotel Hoshikawakan
10/10 Excellent
"I enjoyed the dinner meal even though I made a rookie hot pot mistake."
