We stayed at Flame Tree 2-6 Feb after spending a few days in Jambiani and Pingwe. We didn’t really know what to expect as we had never been to Nungwi before. But everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. The garden of Flame Tree Cottages is so beautiful with many different types of trees and leading down to their very own beach restaurant where you can enjoy dinner while looking at the sunset. Our room was spacious, clean and had a nice balcony overlooking the sea (where we were also served breakfast each morning). We stayed in the honeymoon suite but I believe every guest is served breakfast on their own balcony/veranda which is nice. A special thanks to the staff who took such great care of us. Rent och snyggt, både i rummen och de allmänna utrymmena. God mat och väldigt omtänksam personal. Trevligt att få frukosten serverad på rummets egna terrass. Fantastisk strand precis vid hotellet. Gångavstånd till affärer och restauranger i Nungwi. Vi kommer gärna tillbaka hit.

Flame Tree Cottages were an amazing find! We stayed here for 3 weeks, and every day was perfect! The staff are a complete credit to the hotel. They are super helpful, always smiling and nothing is too much trouble. The cottages are super cute, and positioned as such you don’t have neighbours, just your own beautiful gardens to look over. The food is amazing (especially the jumbo prawns, chapatis, and coconut pumpkin curry) and the restaurant is a front row seat for the wonderful sunset. There is nothing like eating dinner with your feet in the sand! And if you forget your sandals, they are discreetly delivered to outside your door, thank you! The swimming pool is well equipped with sun beds and umbrellas and you can while away the time with just birdsong to keep you company. Staff will bring you drinks and snacks or meals by the beach, the pool or on your private veranda. We cannot rate Flame Tree Cottages highly enough. The staff and owners really care about their guests. Far better than an 500 room faceless hotel. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

Fantastic stay
The hotel was located in a great aria. The pool was nice and the hotel was next to the beach. The breakfast was served outside the rooms every morning and it was very close to the town with all other facilities.

Very nice place, has it all you need for relaxing stay at Nungwi, swimming-pool, sun-beds, restaurant. Helpful staff, owners live in the same place, easy access to the beach and the city.

Великолепные бунгало.
Жили в семейном бунгало. Все очень понравилось. Пляж великолепный, в тихом месте. Территория отеля замечательная , великолепный бассейн, терраса перед бунгало. Утром накрывают завтрак прямо для вас. Комната большая , кровать мягкая, большая ванная. Неплохая уборка. У нас была своя машина , нам позволили ее припарковать на охраняемой территории. Хозяйка англичанка, приветливая, помогает советом при надобности. Влево от отеля много ресторанов и баров. Дважды ужинали в ресторане при отеле, очень вкусно- советуем.Мы остались очень довольны и обязательно вернёмся. Спасибо

We stayed 5 nights. The garden was lovely, large room, comfortable bed, the bathroom unfortunately was pretty old and not really clean. Breakfast was also average, but it was nice to be served on our veranda. Staff was nice.

En annerledes hotellperle
Et hyggelig familiedrevet hotell med fokus på at gjestene skal trives og ha det bra! Hotellet består av små ‘hus’ på et eget område, og det er stille og rolig på selve resorten. Fint og skjermet. To ganger om dagen kommer det en flink yogainstruktør til hotellet. Dette er ikke inkludert i oppholdet, men verdt å få med seg!

Veldig blide, hjelpsomme og imøtekommende ansatte! Fin beliggenhet med kort gåavstand til fine badeområdet og restauranter. Rommene var fine og rene, men på grunn av luftfuktigheten så lukter det litt mugg.

Nettes kleines Hotel mit tollem Pool und schöner Lage am Strand. Die Zimmer sind groß und total sauber, Klimaanlage ist sehr gut. Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Abwechslung beim Frühstück hat gefehlt. Restaurant: Sehr leckere Fishcakes ;-)

Directly on the beach, but with plenty of security. The food was not great, even the breakfast, which are served very nicely at your room. I had to ask for salt/pepper twice rather than it simply being on the table. as well as jams.

Fantastic Place
We stayed for a couple of nights at Flame Tree Cottage and had a great stay there. The rooms were nice, spacious and clean, with hot water at all times. It was located right next to the ocean with great views out to sea. The staff were great and we met the owners who were very friendly. Breakfast was served on the balcony of each room which was a nice touch. Would thoroughly recommend.

Poor experience, this place is way to expensive comparing to the comfort. On top of this the smell over there is terrible... but I guess it is not their fault !

Very close to the village community
Not much to do there especially if it rains wich was unfortunate as it was for a whole week. Weak Wifi you can surf the internet but not stream or download. Friendly staff and good food at the on site reastarant. I wouldn’t suggest going to Nungwi for 2 week one week is enough. Yoga lessons are quite repetitive.

Warm & cozy local hotel with great staff
At first glance, this is just a simple hotel with far less of the amenities and infrastructure of the Doubletree 5 minutes away. There were glitches with minor plumbing issues but the staff immediately attended to every concern, and the owner personally got on the phone to apologize and give us a generous discount for the inconvenience. The overall warmth of the staff, and the simple but comfortable facilities really won us over. Excellent food, responsive service, and we got the best price directly from the hotel for the sunset snorkeling cruise that everyone on the beach is trying to sell. We much prefer this locally owned and green hotel to other chain hotels. The staff were incredibly solicitous. We would stay here again.

Not clean and not for the price.
I arrived at the hotel at 4 pm. My room was not ready. The toilet had to be fixed. The room floor was not clean. The air conditioner was not working. The bed had a bad smell. I would not go there again.

Das kleine Hotel, bestehend aus einzelnen Hausern, liegt direkt am Strand, verfügt über einen tropischen Garten mit Swimmingpool und einem Strandtestaurant mit hervorragender Küche. Man hat seine Ruhe, ist aber auch in 5 bis 10 Gehminuten am Ort des Geschehens bzw. bei den relevanten Tauchbasen. Sonderwünsche, wie z.B. zeitlich vorgezogenes Frühstücke, Nachbestellungen, eine Zwischenabrechnung, wurden immer sofort und anstandslos erfüllt. Schwimmen im Meer ist direkt vor dem Hotel (bei Flut) möglich, man sollte aber Respekt vor der Strömung haben. Vom Strandrestaurant aus kann man die schönsten Sonnenuntergänge und das abendliche Treiben der Einheimischen am Strand beobachten. Das Hotel bietet sich für einen romantischen Paarulaub an. Es waren auch Familien mit Kindern unterschiedlichen Alters da.

L'hotel é bello ma c'é da migliorare come ad es. per la colazione servita nella veranda del bungalow sarebbe comodo poter ordinare in giorno prima indicando l'ora del servizio in alternativa si dovrebbe garantire che un cameriere giri con frequenza fra i bungalow per prendere le ordinazioni (non essendoci telefoni). Il set di cortesia in bagno era presente solo all'arrivo poi non piú rimpiazzato. L'asciugacapelli anche se da prenotazione dovrebbe essere presente in camera nella realtà non lo era e su richiesta ci é stato detto che in tutto l'hotel ce ne é uno... Ma non ci é mai stato portato. Per il prezzo pagato si dovrebbe fare attenzione a questi particolari! Per il resto la struttura é pulita, l'ambiente é confortevole e tranquillo a due passi dai migliori ristoranti di Nungwi e sulla spiaggia

Nice Rooms and Lovely View
The rooms are great, and the location is nice - it's right on the beach. The wifi however was very bad. You are given a voucher that says it's valid for 3 days with unlimited access, however, it does not work in your room, or even in many common areas. When asking the staff about it, they told you to talk to the owners, even though it is well within the timeline/usage. I was also quoted a higher rate while dining at the property than the menu listed - twice. We went snorkeling, and it was very nice, and a great rate. Even on a cloudy day, it was a great choice. The decor and vibe of the property is relaxing and nice. I'd go again, but I'd buy data ahead of time.

Superb place to stay
Stayed for 6 nights in February 2018. Flame Tree Cottages is an exceptional place to stay. The room was excellent, clean and spacious, with a lovely terrace where breakfast was served. The food at breakfast and dinner in the restaurant by the beach was always good. The grounds were quiet and peaceful with a good pool. The owner and the rest of the staff were always welcoming and helpful.

Nice quite hotel with a garden when you can walk and good access to the beach. It is a boutique hotel which we would definitely recommend. Restaurant is ok, but there are plenty other restaurants around which are worth to explore

Relaxing stay.
A week at this lovely place flew by. From the moment I arrived I was treated with great courtesy by all the staff and friendliness. I had a good sized ‘cottage’ with large bedroom and bathroom that was comfortable and well equipped. breakfast on the terrace each morning was enjoyable and the choice of food good. Portion sizes were generous too. The beach and sea is just outside the hotel grounds just down a small flight of steps. When the tide is up there is not much beach but the advantage is the swimming is better. There is a noticeable current however which it is as well to be aware of. Low tide allows walks along the beach to the nearby lighthouse and turtle sanctuary which is worth visiting. The downside of the beach are the sometimes very persistant beach vendors. They are easy to escape from by returning to the hotel as are not allowed in the grounds. The owners are very hospitable and either they or other staff were always available to help with any problems.

The overall feel of the hotel was friendly and calming although the room was over priced for what you received. The rooms were very hot and the fans did not help alleviate the heat. The staff were not very friendly and could be a lot nicer. Otherwise the location is fantastic and the beaches are beautiful. The restaurant was also enjoyable. It was great to have breakfast deliver right to your room

The owners went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and were always available. The hotel is right on the beach and has a pool on site. The room could have done with a bit of a refurb but the bathroom was modern. Overall a great stay.

La habitacion hubiera sido fantastica de no ser por la poquisima agua que salia de la ducha y la invasion de insectos en el baño por la noche. El servicio es lento, tanto para la entrada, como el servicio de lavanderia, como en el restaurante (una noche pedimos la carta del dia con 2 postres y hasta al cabo de 20 minutos se acordaron de que nos la habian traido) Las playas de Nungwi y Kendwa son fantasticas (mejor que las de Jambiani donde tambien estuvimos) y el ambiente del pueblo tambien es bastante autentico y no tan agobiante como muchos comentarios afirman.
