"We have indeed had to change our plans based on our experience on arrival at the Golden Door in Gaborone. We were shown to the room called "Pearl" which with a quick look round showed it to be unclean. There was a general damp smell about the room. The mirror sliding wardrobe door had a crack down its full length. There were dirty marks on the sliding door to the bathroom, matchsticks and dirt in the carpet and a general lack of care. "When we arrived, we learned the hotel was overbooked but the manager helped us into one of their sister properties. The room was comfortable and breakfast delicious. Service was great aside from some young guy at the front desk with a horrible attitude (thank goodness for the great manager!)"

"The hotel foyer/reception was like a building site. Whilst I was informed beforehand that work was being undertaken, I didn’t expect it to be so major. The reception (when we found it) was a small office room in which staff were eating their meals. We were directed to chalet accommodation which quite frankly was shabby ( stained carpets and linen).
