It’s one mrt stop to Ximending but to walk to the station (Xiao Nan Meng), you may wana walk to ximen ding instead, which is abt a 13-15mins walk. Another setback of the mrt station is that the entrance/exit has no escalator nor lift. Quite tiring to walk up the long stairs especially if you have done some shopping.
