This property was not for me - the room (and other areas) were faded, old fashioned (not in a good way) and the furniture looked cheap. Maintenance was required in other parts of the building eg chipped paint, a dead tree in a border and marks on the wall from the car park entrance - first impressions count! Our room wasn’t cleaned and was no light in the corridor when you exited the room in the evening. The hotel provided info on sights and restaurants which was useful, however the only staff member we saw in 2 days was a lady putting out the breakfast buffet. I got the impression that the care that had previously been put in the property based on earlier reviews was now lacking.

lovely accommodation within a very short walk to the beach. Fantastic breakfast and the staff were very attentive a friendly. My only (very minor negative) is that we arrived on a Wednesday having driven all day and the only two dining venues walkable were both not serving food. I believe other days of the week would have been different. That said, this accommodation is highly recommended.

When you book a stay here and you arrive, you get the feeling you are staying in a big home. There are so many homely people touches eg a fire in the lounge, chocolates there too and some port for the end of the night, beautiful comfy beds and spacious bathrooms. Great range of breakfast options too. Staff were very warm and friendly with all the guests.

Could this be the friendliest B&B in Australia? Most likely! We loved our stay, were so well cared for and the property was clean, spacious and even had a fully stocked quality mini bar. We took part in the lovely Christmas lunch, which was delightful and a felt like a home away from home. I can’t rate this place enough. If you are going to Albany, this is the place to stay. Right by Middleton beach and the proprietors make your stay ever so special!

A very pleasant and quiet property adjacent to beautiful Middleton Beach. Rooms were modern and clean. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and thoughtful extras included afternoon sweet treats and after dinner port and chocolate. Just be aware the ‘open plan’ spa room means no door to screen views, light or noise from adjoining bathroom.

Best place to stay in Albany

We have stayed in many 5 star places around the world but for service, friendliness, attention to detail, etc, the Beach House tops the lot. It may be a small place but as a package it really is hard to beat. The owners Craig and Sally are wonderful hosts who pay close attention to your needs as soon as you check in. They went out of their way to ensure that we were well informed about the local area (restaurants, places to visit, shopping, tours, etc) and even provide a complimentary transport service to local places - one just needs to ask. Added to this are things like complimentary sherry and home made cakes just make the guest experience that much better and different from any establishment of this type and size. For us it is a benchmark for smaller hotels and inns - beating all that we have ever experienced. Perhaps what sums customer service best is the fact that we left our passports (doh!) and some money behind in the safe and we were 400km away from Albany when we realized it. "No problem" said Craig. Sure enough we got lot back 2 days later at our next destination. What more can we say? By the way - wonderful location too ... right next to a great beach.
