We particularly loved the various pools, lounge areas outdoors and the swimming from the beach at the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
The hotel is located in a great area, with its own beach surrounded by beautiful and picturesque views. Right in front of the hotel there is a restaurant-café, which is very convenient if meals are not included. The hotel itself has a charming atmosphere, giving off an “old village” vibe. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Within walking distance, you’ll find a plaza with restaurants, shops, and another beach. The hotel also offers a selection of excursions and transfer services upon request.
Beautiful hotel, great quiet private beach, excellent buffet breakfast included, close to Porto Cervo, Maddalena Archipelago’s tour departures, close to all North side of Sardinia beautiful beaches and towns!!! Would stay there again!!
I loved the atmosphere of the ocean and the scenery. Did not like that they only give you one beach towel for the entire stay. The beach restaurant had very LITTLE choices 3 salads from 12:30-2 then ONLY frozen pizza rest of the day. No service at the pool side to get drinks, food. Nothing going on on the property. Very quiet and felt like i was on a retirement property!
We enjoyed 2 nights here. The front desk staff was fantastic. We liked the private resort which had amazing grounds including pools, and the beach/rocks. The pool/beach chair scenario is very undesireable. They ask you not "save" chairs but everyones gets up at the crack of dawn and goes down to throw their stuff on chairs and then proceed to leave for hours. We just went to the beach and put our towels in the sand, or on a portable chair if available when we were ready to get in the sun. We ate at the restaurant across the street and had a blast. You can also walk up the hill and down the street to get to main Baja area of shops and restaurants. All very close!
This is our second stay at this beautiful hotel after finding it last year .
It absolutely ticks all the boxes , location is fantastic , restaurants , shops ,and beautiful coves to snorkel in , on your doorstep.
The amazing “Phi Beach” nightclub is literally found the corner but you’d never know …
Staff amazing , friendly and helpful and will definitely be going back . We just love this place .
Thank you .. again 💙
This is a beautiful, if slightly dated, property. Staff and decor are austere but helpful. Rooms are dated and the mattresses/pillows are uncomfortable. But the location, beachfront, pools and view easily accommodate for all of this.

Beautiful and isolated location with private beach and large pool areas with sun beds. Nice personnel and excellent food served for both breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The room was clean with good view and terrace, but quite outdated. The bathroom was also outdated, which was seen from a toilet where the pressure created a splash on the floor every time, even when the lid was down. It would be nice with sun beds instead of chairs on the beach as well, since most sun beds were taken already at breakfast.
This was our fourth stay at Grand Hotel Smeraldo Beach and we enjoyed it as always. The hotel has a beautiful, picturesque location with pools, 2 private beaches only for hotel guests and a very well kept garden. The staff is brilliant. The hotel complex is not new, traditionally Italian but very well maintained and spotlessly clean. A superb, relaxed stay at this hotel, truly beautiful views and outstanding food with overall excellent service.
We booked half board as before and enjoyed delicious lunch at Pagoda almost everyday but the four course dinner with typical Italian dishes must not be missed. Grazie mille! We will certainly come again,.
Had a very nice stay at the hotel with friends
Alas, the weather was pretty poor, which did impact our four day break
The rooms are a very high standard
The area around the pool suffers from not having enough space for sun beds, but the position means that there is not a great deal of outside space
The main hotel restaurant is not good value for money, however the pizza restaurant is brilliant
The downside of staying at the Ma&Ma is it is not easy to get to town, the hotel could do with offering a shuttle service, it would make the experience that much better, as there are lots of good restaurants in town
In summary, a great stay, not perfect, but I was not disappointed.
I would stay again if a shuttle service was provided, as that opens up the choice of restaurants as parking the hire car in town is not easy, plus you can’t drink and drive
Dated but nice facility on the ocean with nice views. Rooms are ok but they need to improve the beds and pillows. Pillow was thin like a towel.
Breakfast buffet is below average. Food quality is below average and some staff not friendly and do not look happy they work there.
The restaurants have very limited food offerings. Not much seafood and pasta is below average. Prices are way too high but the nice situated hotels helps to improve the stay. Prices are way too high for rooms in high season.
Our stay at The Gand Hotel Sameldra was a wonderful experience. The staff throughout the hotel were fantastic. They were very friendly, willing to go the extra mile to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfast was great. The choices one had were excellent. The evening meals were delicious, except for one evening. We ordered the suckling pig. It was cold and very little meat on it. We sent it back and they sorted it and we had the lamb chops, which were delicious. The bar staff were lovely. Especially Francesia making brilliant cocktails and Maria Antonette so professional patient and taking care of the guests with such care. Then the food service staff and the service staff on linen cleaning the bedrooms. Again so professional hard working. All with a smile. Lastly the staff were lovely too at reception. our gratitude to all of you who made our stay at the Hotel Sameldra a wonderful memorable one. Thank you! Room 339. Highly recommended!
We booked this hotel largely based on the beachfront view and price and were a little nervous to read the negative reviews here, but our experience was wonderful. The hotel’s decor is exactly what we expected to find in Italy, having traveled around Europe extensively. It’s not modern, but it is authentic. The room was spacious and clean, with plenty of closet space, working AC, and a balcony with a frontal sea view. The free breakfast was standard European and there were plenty of options. We chose to eat lunch at the hotel a few days and the food was good with good-sized portions. The hotel is located just a short walk from the center of town, where there was a beach with rental lounge chairs and umbrellas, as well as several restaurants. There were other restaurants within walking distance as well. We enjoyed going out to dinner at night and then coming back to the piano bar/terrace afterwards to cap off the night.Yes, people reserve beach and pool chairs early in the morning, but this is also something that happens everywhere unless you can reserve — and was not an issue for us since my husband was up at 8am :) The staff was helpful and friendly; we especially enjoyed Mae, who was our waitress for lunch and drinks. We would definitely come back!
We spent about 4 days at this resort and must say it was amazing. We will be coming back to experience the hospitality, multiple pools and amazing beaches!
This hotel is unique because of its location – it has its own picturesque beach and direct access to the sea. Within walking distance from the hotel, there is a café-restaurant, as well as a shopping plaza and other restaurants. The staff is friendly and welcoming.
We were a group of 18 people. We all had a great time here!!! The multiple pools was awesome. The private beach was good to have on site. Walking into town was easy and very close. great location. the breakfast spread was outstanding. The food overall was great. Staff and service was also outstanding. We would definitely come back to stay.
