"Arrived at sunset (7:30-ish) on a Monday evening after making a last minute reservation en route to Maine from Boston. Only a few cars in the parking lot…I assumed relatively light evening.
There’s a beautiful patio overlooking the lake, and a little covered pavilion with chairs and tables to the left, visible from the parking lot. Prior to checking in, I went out to the pavilion, took a seat, and was blown away by the show.
However, the hotel is not staffed after hours, at least not in August. And after-hours starts at 8pm. So the outgoing manager came out to the pavilion and inquired about whether I was her last patron for the night before she departed, as she was expecting one more.
We went inside, she upgraded me to an outstanding room for the same price overlooking the lake…probably one of their best rooms, even AFTER I spilled my soda all over her desk, and she didn’t skip a beat.
Beautiful place. Couple apparently bought it a few years ago and is doing a real nice job. Facilities are very nice for an older hotel. They know what they are doing, and the facelift they gave the main structure and from grounds is impressive.
Less than $200 for a million dollar view."
