"Lovely hotel in great location with walking distance to main historic sites. My room was well looked after the cleaning staff who attended each day. Very helpful reception team; also as u can expect from such a great hotel location - there was some magnificent view from the restaurant on the top floor! "
"I have stayed at many Grand Hyatt properties, but my experience at Grand Hyatt Athens was deeply concerning due to critical communication failures and lack of support during a distressing situation.
During my stay, there was a citywide taxi strike—information that was never communicated to us at any point by the hotel. As international visitors, this was not a minor detail; it directly impacted how safely we could move around the city. Unaware of any alternatives, we relied on crowded public transportation, where I was subsequently the victim of a robbery.
While I understand the hotel is not responsible for the crime itself, the situation could have been avoided had we been properly informed. I later learned the hotel offers private transfer services, yet this option was never presented to us—especially critical during a taxi strike when safer, controlled transportation should have been proactively communicated.
After the incident, I called the hotel from the police station in a distressed state seeking assistance. Despite being approximately 10 minutes away, I was told I would need to walk 20 minutes to a pickup location and wait up to two hours for a scheduled transfer—something that had never been explained during my stay. Only after expressing significant distress was I offered an immediate pickup for an additional €45.
This response demonstrated a lack of urgency, empathy, and basic duty of care in a moment involving guest safety."
"Great reception team, took minutes to check in and we were given a room upgrade.
Only here for one night before picking up a cruise, it well worth the stay in a central location.
Really good breakfast, lots of choice and can’t forget to mention the view!
When we’re back in Athens, this will be our first choice hotel"
"We really enjoyed our comfortable and spacious room. Terrific location too, close to the Sigorri Fix station, the Acropolis, and many other sites and attractions."
"Ideally located 2 mins from the Metro and 20 mins walk from the beautiful Acropolis.
Featuring a nicely designed rooftop bar and resteraunt with panoramic views; only The Wyndham Hotel impinging on the view to the Acropolis.
Food / drink was reasonably priced and had a great selection of dishes including Vegetarian choices; also an excellent choice of wines and cocktails. Nevertheless, even at quiet times, Service is 'unhurried'...
The Deluxe Room is / was barely adequate. I don't know what filters and lenses they used to 'big-up' my room and Shower-room.
The shower-room: Clean but barely functional. The corner shower cubicle was not as shown and as a barely 70cm × 70cm equilateral triangle; actually washing yourself is challenging. On more than one occasion I knocked the shower thermostat control to either freezing or scalding hot. If you weigh more than 70kg it will be dangerously tight for you.
The hotel itself has a shallow rooftop pool; sun lounger etc; a gym and decent lobby area. However, from day one, we were missing amenities such as barhrobes. On day 2 we were left with no towels but a complimentary damp cleaning cloth on the bed pillow.
It took 2 complaints including 1 in person, for us to finally be brought towels.
On a more positive note, the reception staff were pleasant and de-escalatory.
Be aware, works were taking place at the hotel during our visit; heavy banging and drilling; from about 645am... Just as well we were up at 7am each day.
Breakfast - Superb"
"We had an excellent experience staying at this hotel. The staff was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with anything we needed, which made our stay feel effortless and welcoming.
The breakfast was amazing, with a great variety of options and everything fresh and delicious. It was the perfect way to start each day.
The location was also a huge plus—convenient and ideal for exploring the area, with everything we needed close by.
Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay."
