While you're on the island, take the time to visit the Kalinago Village for an introduction to the pre-Columbian way of life. This model village will introduce you to traditional ways of life, including canoe building, cassava processing, basket weaving, calabash carving, and herb collection and preparation. You can also buy lovely handicrafts such as woven Larouma baskets and carved calabash gourds. The highlight for us, though, was a cultural dance performance by members of the Karifuna Cultural Group, whose objective is to revive and maintain the remaining aspects of the Kalinago culture. Our cottage was right on the beach and we went to bed each night with the sound of quiet waves lulling us to sleep. We went for a diving trip and Cabrits Dive Shop was a short walk away making it very convenient. The beach is beautiful! Staff was kind and kept the place clean and neat.
