The restaurant attached to the hotel next door was excellent too and provided lovely well cooked food both dinner and breakfast. The only downside would be the internet connection. It was not very stable in my room and would randomly and often disconnect. I did report it to reception. This did not detract from an excellent hotel though. I would stay here again."

GAIA Hotel Basel - the sustainable hotel

"We recently spent 9 days traveling through The Netherlands, France and Switzerland and stayed in 4 hotels. The Gaia was the best by far and if we ever return to Basel we would absolutely choose The Gaia again. I am sorry that I cannot remember the name of the man who seemed to always be at the front desk when we needed something. He was so kind, professional and helpful. He provided excellent recommendations for restaurants, offered suggestions for what to do in the city, checked for our train platform when we left, and just went above and beyond without being intrusive. The property was outstanding. We had a room with a king bed and sitting area which was spotless, beautiful, comfortable, cool and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and staff delivered coffee orders to the table. The location is right across from the train station which we preferred for easy access to trains and turned out to be very convenient for walking the old city as well. Well done!"
