"This was a great hotel for the price, very convenient to the university and many restaurants decorated in a library theme (which was in keeping with the purpose of our trip—to visit the Joanina—amazing!) Breakfast included which was very nice. The staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly!! The hotel was formerly a Hästens Sleep Spa still designed in that aesthetic."

"The property was nice with wonderful spa options. However, the rooms seemed a bit dated and certainly didn’t feel like a five star surroundings. However, the staff and daily breakfast were wonderful!"

"About a 15 minute walk from the portage along a paved river path. Staff supplied recommendations for dining and Fado options as we were booking in. Excellent buffet breakfast choices and we also enjoyed the Portuguese themed Thursday buffet. There looked to be a number of families staying and a good activity schedule for children. Theme for this hotel was ballet."

"You simply pay for the views at this hotel. There are no frills outside of that (which was fine for my stay) the rooms had AC which was great. The staff was nice but it seems they were understaffed and simple requests took longer than other hotels I stayed at in Portugal. The buffet breakfast was convenient as there aren’t many food choices in the area to go to. I would go back simply because of the views and the relaxing property!"

"Pool was amazing, room and bathroom spacious. Bed almost too soft with pillow top. Need to be able to turn off the light on the AC unit. The outdoor lights made it impossible to open the door for air. $400 room that does not include breakfast seems price gougey. Of course the room rate was jacked up because of the 2 concerts in town that weekend Beware of purchasing non refundable rooms. I was sick with a very contagious flu and they still would not refund or give me a room voucher for later. Terrible customer service from management"

"Elegant hotel installed in a historic setting with a lovely garden with a haunting past. Indoor and outdoor pool and spa. Two restaurants at your disposal. Immaculate grounds and pleasant and attentive staff. Looking forward to staying again"
