"I enjoyed my 4 nights at the Boxwood Lodge. My room was very clean, especially the bathroom. It appeared to be recently remodeled, the beds were comfortable and the large mini fridge had good freezer space, the Keurig coffee maker and microwave looked new. Wish there had been a table in the kitchen area to store food & drinks. We asked for another chair and side table to be brought in, which the staff happily did for us. The room was very quiet, did not hear road noise. Our stay was during the week, so our room did not have neighbors, which was nice. The only uncomfortable issue we encountered was while the rooms near us were non-smoking, but as nice as the outdoor temps were, we could not leave the door open for fresh air or enjoy sitting on the porch in the rockers due to the outside smoking by others a few doors down, who seemed to be smoking a lot in their rockers. Lots of good parking available. The gals at the front desk were very helpful with requests we made, and with recommendations for restaurants and museums nearby. The walking proximity to the lovely downtown Blowing Rock area was perfect. We will definitely be returning for another stay at this lovely, well maintained inn."
"Just a very pleasant surprise on many levels. This is a smaller hotel that is newer, yet retains its charm as a unique, mountain type escape. Staff is extremely helpful. Be aware that because this is not a chain, staff hours are not 24/7, so it is worth confirming your arrival time with the hotel directly a day or two in advance to ensure someone is there to greet you and get you checked in. We loved the location, the room size, the quality of everything and the price (not the cheapest, but an incredible value). The place feels secluded, yet is walking distance from great restaurants and less than a mile from the downtown blowing rock shops. Very walkable. We will definitely stay here again!"
"First of all the amenities were NOT what we expected. I was told we would have a balcony which they did not provide, also the pictures showed, and if I was not mistaken, they served breakfast which they said it was only for events, so we did not get breakfast. Our room we were in had a loud buzzing noise so we got the front desk to come and here it. She heard it and gave us another room. The drink machine was out of order. As we were about to leave the elevator broke with me in it, at least I was on the bottom floor. My friend was on the 3rd floor so a maintenance guy went up to get our luggage, but my friend has bad knees and it was painful for her to walk down 3 flights of stairs. I was very disappointed in the whole experience and will not be staying there in the future."
