"A work in progress. Don’t be fooled by the older exterior appearance . Clean updated rooms and a great staff. Pool looked clean and was used by other guests. Good coffee. I didn’t have breakfast. I recommend Carolina’s Diner for great home cooked food."
"Staff was friendly, Parking was easy. Breakfast was okay, but would have been nice to have some protein to go with the bagels. Would have been helpful to have either an airport shuttle or contact to get to the hotel. When we arrived to the airport, there were no Ubers or Taxi (Nice couple on our flight kindly offered to give us a ride).
Worst was seeing 3 large cockroaches in the room."
"Nice property, had events booked up throughout the weekend so definitely a lot of traffic. Would be good to separate parking for paying guests.
Front desk not very helpful most of the time, felt like they did not want to help, tons of younger kids running around property knocking on random doors, fun to watch-annoying to sleep.
Breakfast was good, would be good if they mixed it up a little.
Pool and pool area were terribly cold to the point of not being able to enjoy, that was a big disappointment front desk told us they couldn’t do anything about it.
Would also be good if housekeeping checked the garbage in room during our stay.
Waiting for charges to post but upon check in what we paid was different than expedia price.
Evening reception was bare, celery, carrots dips and trail mix/chips salsa, comp drinks kind of cool."
"The room itself was generally clean and comfortable, but there were several maintenance issues that stood out. The floor had noticeable cracks, the main entry door did not seal tightly, and the walls showed dirt and wear that should have been addressed.
Unfortunately, the overall condition of the hotel was disappointing. Common areas appeared dirty and not well maintained, giving the impression that housekeeping and upkeep are not a priority. The biggest frustration was breakfast service. After the initial rush of guests, many food items were not restocked, leaving limited options for those who came down later during the breakfast hours.
Overall, while the room was acceptable, the lack of maintenance, cleanliness throughout the property, and poor breakfast management made for a less-than-satisfactory stay."
"What a nice hotel stay
Room was spacious and clean as a pin. The breakfast buffet was fully stocked and pretty good. Stsff was helpful and friendly. One drawback is the parking garage. The spaces are very tight for full size cars and trucks and nearly touch when between the lines. The downtown Greensboro is a nice walk with a panhandler or 2.. Stop at Cheesecakes by Alex for a treat."
"Hotel was a perfect place to stay for a concert in Greensboro. The staff were very friendly, the rooms clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I think it would be nice if breakfast was included in the price, rather than having to pay extra for it. Other than that, a great stay!"
"Marriott has always been a part of my travel plans, it has always been my first choice when it comes to hotels out of town. I have to say, though, this time I was thoroughly disappointed. I expected the complimentary breakfast, as is common in various locations across the U.S. nation, but here at Marriott Downtown Greensboro, it had to be paid for. The bedroom, claimed to house 4 people, felt small and almost claustrophobic. And to add to that, we had to share a bathroom without a fan for the fog from the shower or to disperse the smell of a meal's aftermath. It was uncomfortable, to say the least.
It would be unfair, though, not to mention the help of the staff, especially the young gentleman who provided us hot water for some tea around the nighttime. I wish I had gotten his name, but I will be forever appreciative to him--his customer service was exemplary.
If and when I return to Greensboro, NC, I will not be returning to this hotel. I would rather book at the Hyatt a couple minutes away, who offers free breakfast, enough square feet for 4 people, and a fan in the bathroom when sharing such a tight space--all for the same price.
I expected more from such a well-known hotel company, one I have been in partnership for years. I will have to think twice before booking with Marriott again."
