Villa Rêverie - Boutique Hotel

"A hidden gem that gets everything right Villa Rêverie in Bellano is exactly what Lake Como travel should feel like unhurried, beautiful, and completely unpretentious. We stayed here as a base for exploring the lake and couldn’t have chosen better. The property itself is charming and well kept, and the location is genuinely unbeatable for anyone actually trying to see the lake rather than just Instagram it. The ferry stop and train station are steps away, which made day-tripping effortless we hopped on and off at our leisure without ever worrying about parking, crowds, or the chaos that tends to swallow up the more famous villages. Breakfast was included and a lovely start to each morning simple, fresh, and served without fuss. Bellano itself is the open secret of Lake Como. While Varenna and other heavily touristed towns were packed with day-trippers and cruise groups, we returned each evening to a village that felt genuinely local and calm. No jostling for a table, no shoulder-to-shoulder waterfront promenades just the lake, the mountains, and a glass of wine in peace. For the price point, Villa Rêverie offers outstanding value. You’re getting a comfortable, well-located stay with breakfast on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, without paying the premium that comes with being in a “name” town. If you want to actually enjoy Lake Como rather than survive it, stay here"

"Let me begin by saying that this is one of the most beautiful resorts in the world! The architecture is fantastic with private balconies on every room which allow personal, gorgeous views that one will never forget. Built at the turn of the twentieth century, the property has been maintained well. Considering that the resort sits atop a very high peak overlooking a beautiful lake in the Alps, that is no small feat. The interior has been well preserved, shiny and clean. The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. That’s the good side of the experience. On the down side, the staff, the restaurant, the unwelcoming atmosphere, not so good. We got the feeling from check in until departure that we were a big inconvenience. Not rude, just indifferent, not friendly. We sat in the restaurant for half an hour, completely ignored, while a small group (we assumed they were locals) had a get together, and finally walked out. We drove around the mountain a short way and found a small restaurant where we had the most wonderful home cooked meal we could have dreamed of. No breakfast, no coffee, no restaurant. I would definitely stay here again, but with no expectations of service."

"The resort itself is absolutely beautiful and the view is amazing but you have a lot of extra add ons such as a fee to use the cups in your room also having a car is very useful transport is hard to come by. The staff is very friendly and helpful!"

The Lake Como EDITION

"The pool lounger system is the one major flaw here, and it needs fixing. Guests go out around breakfast, leave belongings on loungers, and effectively reserve them for the entire day - often while the loungers sit empty for hours. At peak times, this creates long queues, and you can expect to wait 1-2+ hours for a lounger (even though many sit empty) simply because others are hoarding spots. Management needs to enforce a clear time limit for unattended loungers and stop guests from “saving” chairs for friends or family who are not actually at the pool. The current setup is frustrating, unfair, and well below the standard of the rest of the hotel. Pool service also needs improvement. Food was delivered to the wrong guests several times, and some of our orders were incorrect. That said, we had an amazing stay overall. The rest of the property is excellent: restaurants and bars are lovely, the food and drinks are great, and the concierge, front desk, restaurant, and wider hotel staff were attentive, professional, and clearly experienced. This is a beautiful hotel with excellent service in most areas, but the pool operation is a serious weak point and should be addressed."
