"The Moorings is our "go to" every time we visit Scotland. It is convenient to the train station and easy to get to Edinburgh, Glasgow, and anywhere in the country. The rooms are always very clean and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The food is fabulous, whether a full Scottish breaky, or soup and sandwich for lunch or a gourmet meal for dinner. We also love to hang out in the bar and have friends from the area meet us for a few drinks in the evening with our favorite bartender, Krystoph."

"The bathrooms are extremely grubby, shower cubicles filled with grime, we were booked in for 4 nights, the 1st night we didn't pay much attention to the place (we were knackered), the next morning we couldn't believe just how filthy the place was ! Spoke to management about getting a refund on the 1st night and we'd consider moving rooms, upon looking at other rooms they weren't much better. The management weren't able to make any decisions so had to call the owner (Carlton i believe he was called), who refused any offer we came up with. From chatting to staff they've spoken about the rooms needing refurbished but the owner has always refused. In summary...great staff,absolutely stinking rooms."

"I stayed in this stunning cabin in the woods for a 3-night work trip and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect escape. The cabin is beautifully designed, cozy, and surrounded by peaceful nature—ideal for unwinding after a busy day. Joanne, the hostess, was phenomenal: warm, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience feel effortless and relaxing. Each evening, I took walks through the surrounding area, which was tranquil and scenic—a perfect way to disconnect and recharge. The neighbours, Mr. Darcy and Jimmy, were an unexpected delight and added so much charm to the stay. Their friendly presence made the experience feel even more special. This place is a true gem, whether you’re visiting for work, rest, or a bit of both. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat and will definitely be returning. Huge thanks to Joanne for such a wonderful stay!"
