We had a wonderful stay at Labotessa Hotel. Service was in a class all by itself, breakfast was delicious and included, and each day coming home we would feel like we were greeted by family. Highly recommend!!
Exceptionally friendly and attentive staff who truly go above and beyond. The rooms are spacious, modern, and thoughtfully equipped with high-end touches like Diptyque bathroom amenities, a complimentary minibar, coffee facilities, and convenient parking garage.
One standout feature is their breakfast, served until 4 PM (!) and included in the stay — an incredible idea that makes for a wonderfully relaxed experience. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to try it, but the menu sounded fantastic.
Overall, a flawless stay with genuine five-star service — in fact, better than many large luxury hotels. The only small area for improvement would be the bathroom layout: it’s quite compact and located right next to the bed. A bit more space and a proper door would make the room absolutely perfect.
The staff at this charming, boutique establishment were the most welcoming and helpful I have ever encountered, with a level of service and hospitality exceeding any reasonable expectations.
A wonderful boutique hotel that has been restored beautifully with attention to EVERY detail.
Comfortable Cozy and Stylish. Would only stay here when returning to Cape Town.
Spacious comfortable rooms. Nice location near Company Park. Caring and diligent service by Claudine, Rachel and the entire hotel staff. This hotel is highly recommended by us.
A luxury peaceful oasis in the middle of Cape Town
Our stay was one to remember. All the staff are very attentive and happy to assist with everything. Starting the moment you make a reservation, until after you've left. The hotel is luxury in the name, but it truly was. Every detail of the hotel is executed in the best way possible, from the bedlinen to the Le Creuset coffee cups. The Diptique Shop was always a pleasure to walk through. Breakfast was a-la-carte. Not to much, just perfect. But the staff truly made all the difference. Thank you for our rememberable stay and we'll come back in a few years for sure!
The most amazing and luxurious boutique hotel in the whole of the Cape. Excellent service , great hospitality and huge comfortable and fabulously designed bedrooms. Breakfast was wonderful it was sometimes a wrench to leave ! This part of the city is clearly being regenerated with amazing bars and restaurants nearby or a short Uber away . We’ll definitely be going back to Cape Town but only to this hotel which is definitely a hidden secret .
Mind-blowing“.
“Perfect is an understatement”!
Very quaint and modern at the same time. Smack in the center of the city. This hotel greatly exceeded my expectations. The staff (Martin, Rachel , Bridgette , Claudine) at the front desk were exceptionally friendly, EVERY single worker was polite and offered a warm smile.
I appreciated the complimentary perks like water bottles, soft lighting, free sodas/ wine in the room, beautiful throws, candles, plants, fluffy pillows and a view of Lionshead from every room in the hotel. My family is in Capetown this weekend for a wedding so we had a total of about 4 rooms in the hotel , each room with its own private elevator!
The breakfast spread was also quite tasty. I will certainly return to this hotel during my next visit to Capetown.

Highly recommended.
We loved everything about this hotel from the friendliness of the staff to the spacious and gracious room. Rachel greeted us in a very welcoming and friendly manner and allowed us to check in much earlier than the 3pm advertised time. This was very welcome after an 11 hour overnight flight. The complimentary mini bar was a nice touch as well. We will definitely return.
Surprises and delight around every corner. Our suite was amazing, there were little treats awaiting us. Delicious! I don’t want to say as not to spoil it for others :) Rachel made our stay extra special from the moment we arrived to seeing us off as if we were visiting our family member. Our daughter loved her! The rest if the staff and the breakfast was also a wonderful. There was a couple events with live music in the square it was a good vibe and brought a bit of life to the area and ended early. Landing in Capetown and being our first stay we were more than delighted 6 star! Thank you for the special moments.
My husband and I cannot stop talking about our fabulous stay at Labotessa Luxury Boutique Hotel! I believe that luxury is in the details...and Labotessa gets it right. Every detail is beautifully thought out and crafted, from the smell of rich Diptyque candles in the lobby, to the private elevator opening into each suite, to the heated floors and towel warmers in the bathroom, to the delicious wine and snacks in the room. The rooms, the dining area, and the lobby are exquisitely decorated.
We had a warm welcome from Martin at arrival, who took great care of us throughout our stay. All of the staff were friendly and professional, and every single one of them went the extra mile to make us feel at home.
We enjoyed staying in downtown Capetown, as opposed to the very commercial and touristy waterfront area. We were a short Uber ride from that area, but the downtown neighborhood felt more authentic. Labotessa feels like Paris or Amsterdam, but in Capetown. If we ever come back to this city, which I believe we will, Labotessa is where we will stay!
Fantastic boutique hotel, with just seven spacious suites, excellent amenities and staff who go above and beyond. Located in the heart of the city, within short walking distance of many cultural sites.
This Hotel experience was exceptional! Matijn from the time I booked until I arrived was very attentive. He helped me to find and make reservations at different restaurants and tours. He made sure everything was perfect for my first time in Cape Town. Johan, on of the owners was there to greet us when we arrived. He was very detailed and told us the history of the hotel and gave us a tour of the hotel. Johan was very hands on in making sure that our experience was great. The hotel is beautiful, the entire staff was amazing and this will be the only hotel I choose when I say stay in Cape Town. This is the best hotel experience you will ever have
Unreal! We booked the presidential suite during our very first stay in Cape Town, it was an unbelievable introduction to South Africa. Where do I begin. It was primarily for a birthday celebration and so the accommodation worked well. The hotel is central to Cape Town, with clear views of Table mountain. Literally, the hotel was walking distance from many restaurants. There was a brand new trendy noodle Asian fusion restaurant literally right by the entrance to the hotel which we indulged in. The hotel also has parking accommodation for guests. Right when we got into the suite, it had this Manhattan like vibe with the elevator opening up right into the living room of the bottom floor. There were two master bedrooms on the top floor with a library lounge sofa area nested between the rooms. A balcony connected the master bedrooms, which both had chic bathtubs and extravagant showers. On the bottom floor, there was yet another bedroom, this one with only a shower. There was a luxurious living room with modern art and décor and of course a majestic dining table overlooking the city center. Also, a very nice pool outside on the bottom floor balcony. The property was kept clean at all times, all the chic and modern equipment ranging from new age slick blending machine to the toaster, even the microwave all in harmony with the elegant design of the place, all functioned perfectly. The attendant had unlimited booze refreshed daily in the fridge
Incredible boutique hotel. Hard product is top notch, from the decor and furnishings to the Le Creuset crockery and Diptyque toiletries. The service has matched it, nothing has been too much for Martijn and the team. I recommend to anyone wishing to stay in central Cape Town.
From a guy that lives in nice hotels as I travel for work a ton, trust me this place is incredible. A hidden Gem. The rooms are huge, stocked with drinks/bites to eat (included), and the staff is amazing. The look, the vibe, the feel of this place is off the charts. Stay here - its the right move, coming from a guy that was in about 45 5 star hotels last year.
The online brochure for Labotessa Boutique Hotel claims, "Labotessa will stay will you, long after your stay with us has ended." Indeed, it does. Labotessa is quite simply one of the most charming, luxurious, and beautiful boutique hotels we have ever stayed in. From its spacious and meticulously restored suites with plenty of plugs, pillows, and other sumptuous touches (such as the free minibar and bath products from Diptyque) to its cozy and delicious cafe downstairs (don't miss the Eggs Benedict or the Apple Tart), Labotessa is an oasis of classic design and modern comfort in Cape Town. Moreover, the warm and personalized service provided by Johan, Martijn, and the rest of the team at Labotessa made what could have been a nightmare vacation--we stayed during a Level 4 lockdown--into a truly memorable and enjoyable experience. The location was perfect: walkable to almost anywhere downtown and close to the waterfront and other areas via the free town car service. There are many choices of high-end hotels in Cape Town, ranging from grand dames to the ultra-modern, but this one truly stands out for its beautiful design, its gracious hospitality, and its central location. Stay here--it will stay with you.
This property is spectacular! We have had the most incredible experience at this luxury boutique hotel — arguably the best in the world. Everything about this hotel is 6 stars. The property owner previously worked as a Senior Executive for a world renown luxury hotel brand. He has thought of literally everything travelers could want to enjoy in a room, as well as to experience while staying overnight, or for days on end in Cape Town. This property will blow anyone way with it’s fine attention to detail, amazing comforts, and thoughtful, generous amenities. The interior design of the rooms/suites is utterly phenomenal.
We will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone we know so that they might enjoy as well.
Booking at Labotessa proved to be the best decision we made during our vacation. Upon arrival, the Front of House Manager, Martijn greeted us personally and arranged for a small afternoon tea to be served during our check in and registration. During our tea, we enjoyed good conversation and Labotessa’s delectable, homemade peanut butter cookies. We were then shown to our suite. Our room was immaculate, spacious, and well appointed. The rooms’ windows looked out over the square and offered an unobstructed view of Lion’s Head Peak – gorgeous. We were also greeted by a handwritten welcome note and a complimentary bottle of locally produced red wine (Stellenbosch). The room was stocked with complimentary water, juice, soda, cocktail makings, cheese, olives, crackers, homemade humus, Nespresso, teas, and local nougats. When we ventured out each day, Martijn ensured that the hotel’s car was available to takes us (free of charge) wherever we wanted to go. This same accommodating attitude persisted throughout our stay: we were escorted on our short walks to nearby restaurants after dark… our umbrellas were opened and dried… ticket issues were addressed and resolved by the staff…
My wife and i have traveled all over the world and this was honestly one of the best hotel experiences we have had. Labotessa is exactly what a boutique hotel should be. Beautiful hertigae building with excellent decor. Johan and Martijn were simply amazing. Top class hospitality you would might not even get at a high end resort. They made us feel so comfortable and relaxed our entire 5 night stay. They helped plan out each day and offered to drop us at various location in cape town in their hotel car, a jaguar SUV. They made all dinner reservations and made numerous enquiries about rental cars, shop timings, excursions, etc etc. The staff were always pleasant and accommodating. Love the fact that breakfast is served until 4pm and food was excellent including lunch we had on our last day. Compared to other over priced luxury hotels in cape town, the value for money at this gem of a place is outstanding. The room was incredibly spacious, basically a stuido apartment. The location is excellent. Most people encouraged us to stay near waterfront but having visited there during our trip, we are glad we stayed in the city center close to all the shops and restaurants. Everything about them and their staff including the overall vibe of the building was extremely welcoming. I really could go on and on but suffice it say, we would highly recommend this hotel. These guys know what they are doing and it was nice to finally experience what a boutique hotel is meant to be. Till next time
