"Beautiful and comfortable home. The listing was a little incomplete so it was unclear exactly what we were getting but pleasantly surprised. One very confusing experience is they never mentioned an actual couple lives on-site and are the hosts. They came by when we got there and were very kind and accommodating. It just would have been helpful to know they would be there. The listing said it was entirely self check-in. "

"We absolutely loved our stay at AlmaLusa Alfama and would recommend this property to anyone visiting Lisbon. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful upon our check in. We were upgraded to a suite and the room was beautiful! The room was clean and we had a view of the water. We had a small sitting area, desk, small fridge, coffee maker and water that was refilled daily by the staff. The bathroom was very clean and had all the amenities needed. The hotel has a cafe on the first floor and the food was very good. The location is within easy walking distance of all the big sites in Lisbon, many cafes + restaurants and the shopping district. It is also close to the metro and train station if you are taking a day trip out of the city. Would recommend to anyone coming to Lisbon!"

"Lovely hotel. We chose this because it fitted our price range as we were in Portugal for a cheerleading competition in Lisbon. I would definitely stay here again. The pool was fantastic the food was delicious comfy beds staff great. I hope the price stays affordable so we can come back next year."

"The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are fab, farm to table food, the pool is gorgeous, we had a 1 bed townhouse which was lovely. However was it worth £835 a night? No. Compared to other 5 star hotels it was lacking. Pretty much all activities had an additional fee, even the cycling bikes. The food was nice but nothing amazing. The staff were poor, couldn’t get simple requests like no dressing on a salad, called reception about the aircon and they said they’d call back… they never did. Again not the service from hotels of similar prices I’ve stayed in elsewhere. I also think this hotel would be better suited as adults only."

"Pros: Excellent and helpful staff, always willing to help out with anything and any questions. 24 hour desk, so staff always there to help at any time. Clean hotel, well maintained and a wonderful terrace and pool, with lovely views of the town and river, although cruise ships were often moored to obscure some of the view of the river. Nice and strong shower in the room, always with hot water. Bed was comfortable with lots of lovely pillows. Cons: Breakfast was a bit hit or miss. It was more style over substance. Limited amounts of the choices on offer. One kettle between all the guests, which was not topped up very frequently. Also, on a couple of occasions, they ran out of spoons and all the guests had to wait quite a long time for them to be replaced. The fruit also ran out frequently as well. These issues were not down to getting to breakfast late either, we had breakfasts at varying times. Often there was only one member of staff at breakfast, who would frequently disappear into the kitchen for long periods. The sink tap in the room would reduce to a trickle if you wanted hot water, this was quite surprising in a 4-star hotel. Be aware that the hotel is at the end of a dead-end cobbled road and not all taxi drivers will drive down there."
