Exceeded expectations! We stayed in the cottage with the king bed and AC and this place is clean, good bed and shower, and is a stand alone 5 star review. Francis, the gentleman that owns and operates the place is one of the best hosts I’ve ever had. Wonderful local knowledge, runs a great snorkeling/ boat tour company and made my wife and I feel very well taken care of. If I could give the place 6 stars I would

Quiet, cozy, and comfortable! One of very few locally owned places and Francis and family are amazing. Very welcoming and helpful! The AC worked great, the bayside view was amazing waking up to the sounds of all the birds in the mangroves. It’s close enough to get into town quick but far enough away to relax. They provide bikes for all guests which makes seeing the island much easier! Would recommend 100/100 and will be back to stay on my next visit.

Francis is a such warm and thoughtful host. He greeted us with a complimentary pick up (and drop off) at the ferry and made sure we had a wonderful time. This is the only belizean owned waterfront property on the island, and I highly recommend this lovely hidden gem.

We stayed for 2 weeks. The cottage is away from the crowds. It is quiet, just a short walk / bike ride away from restaurants. There are 2 bikes to use. We loved riding the bikes! The cottage is very clean. We recommend staying here. FYI, the food on the island is fantastic

Great spot! Was surprised how well thought out the unit was. Nice bed, fresh water to drink, modern shower, good AC. Having bikes for us to use was clutch! Francis took us in the morning to our Water Taxi which was very nice. Thanks!

Francis was knowledgable about the marine life having a degree in marine biology and being a park warden for 11 years. Everything looked as it was in the pictures and the room was excellent. Oil for cooking provided as well as everything you needed to make smoothies and meals. Friendly safe compound with use of bikes and kayaks.

Let me first say that the owner Francis is one of the best people and most accommodating host I’ve dealt with. Very clean, safe, quiet place on the water. Gated resort with bikes. On the south side of island away from the hustle and bustle. We will be staying here again. We stayed in the Moody Blues cabin and it was so nice clean and all was just great. Our stay at Blue Bay Cottages was amazing. The owners live on-site and are very helpful and friendly. They give you all the privacy you want, too. They're one of if not the only local lodging rental owners on Caye Caulker - so support them. He used to work in marine biology for the island, and is very knowledgable about the area and committed to respecting it. This also meant he gave us great suggestions on where to go to find a great beach and other cools stuff; when/where to take one of his well-kept kayaks; and respectable local businesses, behaviours, etc. They have well-maintained bikes for guest use on-site with locks. He has a nice dock and boat that he uses for guest snorkeling (and I presume fishing) tours. The dock is next to a little mangrove island that is bird central after sunset. Cabin was very comfortable, A/C worked great, etc., though we didn't spend much time indoors. There's a veranda on the roof you get to by stairs that provides great views. When we come back, we definitely hope to stay with them again. Can't thank them enough!

Blue Bay Cottages is a beautiful peaceful and quiet location. The room is very clean and has everything you need. The owner , Francis, is very nice and knowledgeable about the island and he goes out of his way to make sure the accommodations are great and answer questions you may have. Only met by nice cleaning lady, day of arrival. She showed us the unit but stated immediately that swimming was not allowed. Kind of surprised as "beach" in description suggested to us that included swimming. That evening as we returned to unit (after exploring the town center and having dinner) that the TV was not working. Tried messaging twice as well as 2 phone calls (no responses) Next morning received a curt message that "How dare I" try to contact him with trivial matters and if we were not happy we could leave. My wife and I were in town having breakfast when he sent us an additional message that he demanded us off the property by 11 and then we would only be charged for the first night. We had to hurredly hire a taxi and get our belongings and find another hotel. We encountered nobody at the property and sent a message that we had left the keys in the unit. We never met the owner once and only saw the cleaning lady when we first arrived. Unfortunate that we could not come to some more reasonable solution but I guess we caught the owner on a bad day. Not sure if there were any other guests there, we never saw anyone.

We stayed in the Blue Cottage Suite, which was a beautiful one bed studio apartment. Much to our chagrin, it rained three of the four days we were there, so we spent a lot of time in the room. I am so happy we were at Francis's home, and not a more traditional hotel type lodging. Lots of windows, two doors, a comfortable bed, TV with Roku, a great kitchen, including full refrigerator, fantastic kitchenware, everything we needed for a stay in room type trip. When it wasn't ready, we made great use of the provided bicycles, which were perfect for tooling around the island. I was very happy with our decision and would recommend this suite to others.

This property was special from the beginning. Owner, Francis, picked us up at the water taxi terminal and helped us bring in our luggage. He was informative on good places to eat nearby and the basic layout of the town. The cottage was immaculate, on the ground floor and equipped with coffee, sugar and some beverages. Bikes were provided for us and everyday we went to town to walk the beach, sightsee, grocery shop and eat at restaurants. For $5 US you can get a roundtrip boat ride with your bike across to Northside Caye Caulker where there are several fun restaurants to dine in. There are lounge chairs to sit in on the ocean side of this property where it's also fun to bird watch. We hope to make it back to Blue Bay Cottage some winter in the future.
