No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you prepare well enough. We've made a list of handy tips that will help get your Altar escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an awesome flight experience is to plan ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, official ID, bank cards and any vital medications. Next, take on board items that'll help keep you occupied, like some electronic gadgets or a good read. You'll also want to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. Last but not least, be sure to chuck in toiletry items like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a spare set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in the bottom of your hand luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable products, such as bleach and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in temperature by donning layers, and pick flat, closed-toe footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
