- Air travel can be easy if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you’ll want some toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a clean set of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your laptop, a charger, your medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don’t have a Swiss Army knife lurking in your hand luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable substances, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and gels and liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The key to a comfortable flight is often as simple as your choice of clothes. Prepare for changes in temperature by layering up. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin gets too cold. Shoes like stilettos, flip flops and lace-up boots are best left in your checked suitcase. Even though they may be your favorites, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will thank you for it.
- The serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It’s the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular foot and leg exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this from happening. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks is also a wise idea.
