No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well prepared. We've compiled a list of top travel tips that will get your Ashwood vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a comfortable experience if you pack the right things. First of all you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a clean pair of socks and a good book. Secondly, make room in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and fuels, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Layer up in breathable clothing and take a pullover in case it gets cool. Go for a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the journey. Leave the high heels and chunky boots in your checked luggage.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long distances is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression socks and tights are another great idea to help lower your risk.
