Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of handy tips that will get your Askov escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, put in your passport, official ID, bank cards and vital medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to while away the time. A juicy book and a phone crammed with your favorite shows are some terrific options. If you plan to catch more than just forty winks, a comfy neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some deodorant to ensure you arrive looking fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, knives, fuels and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and objects that could harm passengers, such as pepper spray and firearms, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of an airplane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and remember to take a sweater as it tends to get cool inside the cabin. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are always a good choice too.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-haul flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are also a great idea to help minimize this risk.
