Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Audet escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a great experience if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean set of clothes and a good book. Next, find room in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a cozy neck pillow too. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, knives, fireworks and fuel. Sporting equipment like hockey sticks, and objects that could injure passengers, such as firearms and swords, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The key to a comfortable flight can be as simple as your choice in clothes. Prepare for temperature changes by bringing layers. That way you'll stay nice and warm if the cabin gets chilly. Shoes like stilettos, flip flops and lace-up boots are best left for other occasions. Even though they may be your favorites, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will thank you later.
- A condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation. Doing foot and leg exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks is also recommended.
