Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you prepare well enough. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Belmond escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a pleasure if you carry the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Next, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, your medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort really should be your main priority when selecting what to wear during your flight. Consider your footwear with care too, as swollen ankles and feet are a common occurrence. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are always a smart option.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long-haul flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are another simple way to help lower your risk.
