Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Brighton escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First of all, put in your passport, travel documents, wallet and daily medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a phone crammed with your favorite shows are good options. If you hope to catch up on some sleep, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a few toiletry items so you'll step off the plane feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Dress in comfortable layers and opt for shoes that are flat, roomy and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
