Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Delta could be a breeze or it could go on forever. We've put together some handy travel tips that will help you start your next great adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, put in your passport, important documents, wallet and daily medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy novel and a laptop crammed with your favorite movies are some terrific options. If you hope to take a short nap, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-canceling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll step off the plane looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your plane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and pack a sweater as it can get quite cool inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are also a good choice.
- It's likely you've heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There's plenty you can do to reduce your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression tights or socks, drink plenty of water and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Do a few laps of the cabin or perform exercises in your seat.
