Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to East Calais could be a piece of cake or it could drag on forever. We've pulled together some handy tips that will help you start your next great adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, pack in your passport, official ID, cash and vital medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a phone crammed with your favorite movies are good options. If you intend to catch up on some sleep, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll hop off the plane feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your airplane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and don't forget to bring a cardigan as the temperature can drop in the cabin during long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also a sensible choice.
- Caused by sustained periods of immobility, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a blood clotting condition that can affect some passengers on long-distance flights. The good news is there are ways to significantly reduce your risk of developing it. Stay hydrated, walk up and down the aisles as often as you can and wear compression tights or socks.
