No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of handy tips that will help get your Eckman vacation started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a pain-free flight experience is to plan ahead. So, let's start with the essentials: passport, travel documents, credit cards and any vital medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic gadgets or a few magazines. It's also wise to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of headphones. Finally, be sure to toss in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp or pointed objects hiding in one of the zippers of your hand luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Layer up in natural-fiber clothing and don't forget to pack a sweater just in case you get chilly. Go for a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as your feet may swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy hiking boots in your main luggage.
- Most travelers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There are plenty of ways to minimize your risk. Wear compression socks, drink lots of water and get your legs and feet moving. Do a lap or two of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
