- A plane trip can be easy if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, make room in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any vital medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to take your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and gasoline, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your airplane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and remember to bring a cardigan as the temperature can drop in the cabin. Flat, slightly roomy shoes are also a good choice.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To avoid this, make the most of every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression tights and socks are another simple way to help reduce this risk.
