Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of essential travel tips that will help get your Hynish vacation started on the right note.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a great experience if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare pair of socks and something to read. Secondly, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, your important medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of an airplane are not the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and pack a cardigan as it tends to get cool inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also a good idea.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There's lots you can do to lessen your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression socks, stay hydrated and keep your legs and feet moving. Do a few laps of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
